If I wanted more usable throw in a FW3X that currently has XPL-HI.
Would it be worth swapping them out for SFT25R?
In a reflector the SFT25R would win but behind a Carclo TIR would it make that much of a difference?

Depends on the TIR. In a 10508 (or 10509, which is an optic that IMO has no reason to exist at all), not worth the worse tint. In a 10507/10511, the intensity should be much improved, probably closed to doubled at most drive levels. The type of secondary optic (reflector, TIR, convex lens) doesn’t really make a difference in relative/proportional intensity calculations, the only feature of the (same) optic that may affect relative readings among different emitters is how smooth or rough (or how precise or imprecise) the optical surface is relative to the size of the emitters being compared.
The FW3X currently has the 10507.

You should be in for a pleasant surprise then. The SFT25R beats the old XPL-HI in output, but also gets higher intensity from (1) reduction in LES area and (2) elimination of sideways leakage through the transparent silicone.

Excited to see how this turns out! I am also curious myself. I’ve had the SFT25R in one of Carclo’s single emitter 20mm optics, but it lacked the precision to focus this emitter well; the beam was readily beaten by a Convoy 20mm optic. But these triple optics are much smaller and should not suffer the same issue. If people can get decent throw with Osram W1 in a D4V2 or D3AA, you should have no problems with the SFT25R.
