Do these use constant current drivers or that fet stuff? Is the runtime flat like on the stock s2+ lights? Or does it dim ?
Simon(Convoy) doesn’t sell S2+ triples so it would be a custom build.
It would still use a 17mm driver like a standard S2+ so you can put whatever 17mm driver you like in it.
Note: I wouldn’t recommend a quad, the Carclo 106xx quad optics are 24mm wide and need to be sanded down to fit.
The Carclo 105xx triple optics are 20mm wide and fit without sanding.
Building it for the lulz, or just want a triple/quad in that form-factor?

Great little light, same S2+ish form-factor, at least some had high-CRI emitters, if I remember right.
In a S2+, you’d need a spacer to lift the board+optix above the shelf, because it’s shallower than board+reflector. Even though the S2+ pills screw in, the threads in the tube don’t go deep enough.

I have a Jaxman E3 that has been modded several times and it’s a great light, tough as it gets.

This is definitely not my area of experience but you probably want a boost driver for that.
I’m not aware of any 17mm mechanical switch boost drivers that would handle three 3v LEDs in series.
I think a Nichia 719A Triple with a 5A 6v Boost Driver could be a good option.
5A/3 = 1.66A per LED
I’ve done two: A s2+ triple and a s21A quad. The triple uses a 8A buck driver from Convoy and 3 xp-l HI 5000k. It works great with the Carclo 1050 optic.
The S21A uses a fet driver from convoy modded with a resistor to increase the drive current to 14 amps. It has 4x sft-25r 5000k.
Convoy has since released 10 amp buck drivers in 17mm, and i think it would be nice in the triple, so I may upgrade soon. These ‘s’ hosts don’t have much thermal mass, so you’re sort of limited.
Do you have a picture of the front of the S21A quad?
I think I’ve seen at least one build on reddit, and worry that the bezel blocks so much of the quad optic that you might actually gain output by downgrading to a triple, which is not blocked by the bezel.
Yeah, the bezel definitely does block a good portion of the optic. Here’s a crappy pic of two S21A quads I’ve made. The grey has the standard bezel, and the silver has a widened bezel.

It was before I picked up a mini lathe, so I just drilled it out with a step drill as wide as I could while leaving enough to retain the glass. I did it on a light I stripped the anodizing off, but imho it would look pretty bad on an anodized light.

I haven’t tried it yet but I had planned to build a S21A quad with the MCPCB and Optic Simon uses in the S21D.
A Carclo 106xx is 24mm and needs to be sanded down to fit into a S21A which is only 23mm.
Simon said his Optic is 22.5mm and there’s a small gap between the perimeter of the optic and the actual optic.
Being that the diameter is smaller than a Carclo and the individual optics are not right up to the edge, I think this could fit a S21A nicely.

They do fit after a bit of grinding, but I opened up the inner diameter of the head with my lathe.
BUT: The optics make the 5700K 519A look way greener than a reflector or other optics (T7), so I will give the carclo 10623 a go.
Maybe try a beaded TIR as well.
With an appropriate spacer, this does seem feasible. Though @L4M4 pointed out an issue with poor tint, which would be hard to address.
I honestly don’t understand where Convoy gets these optics from, all of them have very different tint-angle behavior. All of the 3535 clear optics exhibit poor mixing, while the 3535 narrow beaded mixes well but imparts a blue tinge to everything. On the other hand, the 5050 clear narrow and beaded 20deg are the best optics I’ve ever used, with none of the problems mentioned above, even if used with the worst tint-shifty emitters like SST40.
I never use the clear ones, I’ve pretty much only ever use 45 or 60 degree beaded.
