im new to the site and wanted to know if i could use an 16340 battery instead of the disposable cr123. also if you would recommend a good battery that would be awesome :). came across
Foxnovo ICR16340 650mAh 3.7v 2.4Wh High Drain IC Protected 16340 on amazon 2 for $14 but wasn’t sure if they were any good. same specs as a cr123a so don’t see why it wouldn’t work but wanted to ask around first. thanks
forgot to say the flashlight i have is the olight s1 baton
Not unless the device's specs say you can. The 16340's voltage might be too high, 4.2V vs. a CR123's 3V. Some devices may work but without specs you risk destroying the device.
While I can’t say what percentage of single cell CR123 lights can take a 16340 (although I’d guess most would take it ok), I’ll bet almost no lights that use 2 CR123’s in series would survive. Most will have driver heat issues dropping that much extra voltage.
Yes you can use this cell, but i have never heard of this cell before.
I have many lights and batteries, with my S1, i use AW rcr 123 icr chemistry protected and non protected AW/Efest 16340 imrs that fit properly and drive it to its max output.
Not all cells are created equal[ size, capacity, safety] and there is a lot of junk out there, olight have there own rcr123 cell which is good also.
With some of the lesser known brands they probably wont drive it to max output and give poor run times, so i would look around for the above mentioned.
