I would love to do that but unfortunately an XHP70.3 HI is out of my budget right now.

No, that’s bypassing the resistor with extra steps, the driver will lose the current reference if you do this. Also, the shunt resistor tracks might not be thick enough nor reinforced, so you run the risk of lifting this track off the PCB.
