OK guys, Light all charged up ready to test. I ran on Turbo for about 1 min plus. I did not want to take risk and ” fry ” light on Turbo so I stepped down. This guy is a pretty good over all flooder with some spill. Lights up a lot at close range for sure.
Now, I ask you guys that had issues with DX80. When did you guys start smelling burning from light? Smoking fumes from light? etc…. The reason is mine might be OK for now. BUT if I do not pay attention there she goes ” FRIED ”
I do not plan on running on Turbo very long so I hope I ” broke in ” light correct?
Hey mmalive, I personally tested the unit we shipped you for DOA and did not find any problems. That being said, we shipped out over 40 for Black Friday and do not have a single complaint so far except for one ("it's too heavy"). If you have any issues with your DX80 moving forward we'll be happy to help you with the warranty.
Hi Calvin, I did not come on here accuse of any defects you sold. Not the intention. Rather to ask questions from other owners of DX80 on experiences to avoid frying my light.
Dude it is a light, it has built-in control to step down to stop itself from actual electronic damage. With any light the electronic step down is usually higher than most people care to handle so they turn it down before hand. Any electronics getting super warm will put out a smell, like with anything watch for any abnormal smells or smoke.
I haven’t read of anyone with a melting down DX80 most were didn’t work or battery pack issues and all issues seem to be related to first batch, and as I have stated multiple times the Imalent issues get blown up by a few people that got 1 dud and than curse the whole brand.
Not trying to be rude, take the light out and use it and see how you like it. As long as it charges and properly cycles through its modes you are good to go my friend. Don’t worry about issues you got it from a good group of people they will take care of you
“Too Heavy” lmao what do people expect it is a light with 8-18650 batteries in it and has some mass. Some people are silly! This reminds me of a guy who bought a gas powered RC and than complained it made noise that was too loud for him (29cc weed eater engine pretty much with a stock muffler)…… I literally was speechless lol
If you read my post correctly I never made any type negative of comments about anything. Rather, just asking questions from other owners to avoid ” FRYING ” my light. I do agree lemons exists with any electronic device. Much better to be safe and sorry to ask questions to avoid problems later. Especially when previous owners provide feedback upon use of product.
BTW, Thanks for insight. Cycling through modes, lock out, etc…. seem to work fine. I will run on Turbo a little longer tonight when it gets super dark.
Please PLEASE use lockout whether it be Electrical or Mechanical lookout, I have seen a few people who have accidentally had a light turn on and torch things. This goes for all lights but just wanted to touch base on this, I don’t want anyone hurt or property damage.
Also I have owned the DX80 and MS12 I will say they are pretty awesome lights, blast away lol. I have ran my DX80 for awhile at 5k with no issues what so ever, it can take the temps well. Hopefully yours works out good for you my friend.
