I like to actually use my many FLs. I usually take 2 out per night and compare beams and lumens during evening walks. It also refreshes my memory of their UIs. This thread is about which FL did you dig out of mothballs today? You would be surprised how nice some of them are and be reminded of why you bought them in the first place. You might even save some money not buying as many. Well, probably not.
Lotta box-queens I’m keeping untouched in boxes ’til I either sell them or what. Eg, older TKs/SPs with slooooow ramping, or those that blow through the lows and linger at the highs, I’ll keep ’em on stepped, which kinda defeats the purpose of getting ’em.
Other nice lights I still have at the ready but don’t use often, have cells in ’em and are ready to go, but I keep ’em bagged and don’t use ’em on any regular basis, usually ’cause I have another light which does a little something extra and is similar enough in most other ways.
Pulled my Lumentop EDC18 of the queen shelf a few days back. Wanted to check it’s voltage after a few months looking at the green rabbit
it was sitting at 4.05V and pretty sure I charged it to 4.1V before “shelving” it. I took it out for a walk with my IF25a to compare and realized how much I LOVE the beam of the IF25. But the old girl held her own and threw about the same while not being TOO blue.
Best time of the year around here for night time walks. No snow yet. Earliest sunsets of the year. Hunting season has instilled at least a little fear into the black bears. They should be hitting the sack soon anyway. Enough chill in the air to cool the lumen monsters. Where I live there is no light pollution, only my own house motion lights which I turn off when I go out.
Dug out a Purple anodised Convoy S2+ (metal switch 8*7135 T6-4C edition), was reminded that it’s a flashaholic-grade torch. It doesn’t even get that hot despite it being the highest amperage version.
^ I had my desert tan Convoy S2+, metal switch, 8x7135, XP-L HI with TIR out also. Very nice rosy, smooth beam. Even though it has 5-3 driver it still rocks.
Had the 18650 Sofirn C8F out also. It is a shame it has timed step downs as it could easily be a sustained 1500 lumen light . 1000 lumens is the highest it is allowed to sustain without being interrupted. It can be continuously bumped up but that gets annoying. Sure would like to know if anyone has modded theirs.
Also brought out the SP32. The version with the hand searing 1500 turbo. Now that very much needs it’s 2 minute step down. But after that it will sustain 1000 lumens no problem, the same as the C8F. Go figure.
SD 05 is a killer. No timed step down but has ATR. As I said the cool temps keep it up in the teens easily. The 3 volt XHP 50.2 is one impressive emitter.
Took 2 walks tonight ![]()
I rotate all of my A list lights (coffee table lights) to some use every few weeks, and my B list lights (safe queens) every few months. My favorite safe queen is the Niwalker MM15, as far as happy memories go. My fav sq light, as far as good looks go, is the Eagletac MX25L4C. My fav sq light as far as performance goes is the Fenix TK75 vn 70. There are lots of others such as Meteor M43, that bring happy memories when they come to mind, and once in a while, to hand.
Wowtac A3 zoomie.
Pulled it off shelf 3 weeks ago and now it is living on computer desk.
What makes it a like new light to me is by updating the battery tube to the Sofirn 18350 tube, now it is just so perfect size and for whatever reason my sample has won the tint lottery. She is just pure white in full flood with just an outside edge of amber color. Zoomed it does not go down to batman full die look and is probably not the best zoom but that isn’t needed here in the house so all is good.
Best part is this is still available with included 2600mAh 18650 battery on Amazon for $9.99.
Has Moonlight, L,M,H and double click Turbo.
The 18350 tube will set you back 5.99 for 2 of them and that tube fits a lot of different flashlights.
Anyway good thread!

I took my Manker E04 off the shelf today (it`s sat there nearly 6 months doing nothing because I don`t like the emitter), and swapped the emitter out to a lovely 3200k from what looked like over 5000k with a green border.
Ok it still has a slight border (it`s a mule light) but the overall color makes it something I`ll be happy to use now ![]()
