Reasonable 18650 for everyone: Sofirn SC31

Sofirn sent me a sample of the 10-16 USD Sofirn SC31. It puts out 600 lumens and has a good NW light color, OP reflector is water resistant and comes with the typical features of modern flashlights with electronic switch including locator beacon. I also tested the runtimes and a few other aspects. There are 2 minor problems:

Nice review… that wasn’t the same cat from the Dobermann review, was it?

Nice light for muggles, also nice to know it’s waterproof, too. (I didn’t want to do potentially destructive testing to mine. :open_mouth: )

Indeed, it is the same cat. We do not replace our cats that often

Wellp, I have a stray cat outside that I “invite” inside for the evenings ’til I have to go to bed, then outside (no litterbox inside, so…).

Also got 2 other strays that run away as soon as I open the door, even when putting out food (cans of wet food, not just the dry crackers or whatever).

So… didn’t know if the cat from the Dobermann review was “yours” or just someone who happened to be in the neighborhood.

They sure do lick themselves a lot.

Our cat is a house cat, very well trained for a cat. My wife originally saw them as pests but they have great general intelligence and social skills on the level of dogs while maintaining a very different attitude. They are capable of forming real bonds with their owners, just like dogs. Quite funny creatures!

Thanks for the review. Looks like a nice little light. I’d like a level between 10 and 200 lumens, but this mode spacing will work for many.

One point.
CATS. have much more sensitive eyes than humans.

Please DO NOT shine your LED’s, or any other lights into their eyes
as you did there.

It WILL affect them more than us.
Watch him squinting as you flash it across his face,
It can damage his eyes as much as ours. Possibly more so if done regularly.
and they can’t say stop. it hurts.
Regards.
A cat owner.

OK, good point. You are correct.

Look out for any little “presents” left in your shoes/slippers.

Nice review but i like the SF36 more :+1:

I did very hard testing on the SF36:

A great light although I think Sofirn’s 2018 lamps are a step up in terms of UI and even build quality. But then the SF36 is a quite different design from the SC31.

One of his toys at most, nothing bad

Ha! I remember that. The ’36 is the only light I’ve seen that can pass the depth-charge test.

Lol, there are others that could pass it but this one was free for me so…
