Acually likes it better than my Maratac AAA:s, the UI is really nice as is the quality feel to it.

The 3 lumin low is useful. The 0.4 lumin must be too dim for any use I could think of. I am glad I got the 3 lumin.
I have both and you are right.
that’s why I was going to avoid the deal…it was supposed to be all firefly versions and then they said random lights afterwards…I have no use for 0.04 lumens…3 lumens is absolutely perfect and am glad I got this version…I never use the 0.5 lumens on my zebralights
I have both and my FF model is my most used light. It’s THE best light for navigating through a dark house at 4:30 AM with dark adjusted eyes because it’s not bright enough to wake anyone up. I can shine it directly in my wife’s face at 6” away and she won’t stir. I was getting complaints from my wife and my light sleeper daughter when I used to use a 3 lumen light for the same purpose and I always pointed it directly at the floor in front of me. Mind you, it’s bright enough for me to match up a pair of socks from my sock drawer as long as the textures are the same, but, I’ve worn mismatched socks to work a few times where one is black and the other navy blue. There just isn’t enough light for me to differentiate between black and navy blue. I can’t use a brighter light here as the sock drawer is right next to my wife’s head.
I get tickled at all the arguments of the “firefly” mode versus the 3 lumen mode and I am just curious if alot of the argument had to do with the person’s AGE that is making the argument!
As I am nearing 50 I need alot more light to see the same things. When I was in my 20’s I used to hunt with a guy in his mid 40’s. At that time I could walk through the woods on a clear night without a flashlight once my eyes were adjusted, he would follow me to our hunting stand and swear that he couldn’t see a thing! Now I understand what he meant! 
I think for young healthy eyes the ultra low IS plenty of light, but it wouldn’t be for me.

I’m 46. The FF mode actually seems bright when I first fire it up.
How about any of you that are 50+ years old, how do you like the firefly mode?
I ask because I am thinking about ordering one of these lights and I really assumed the ff mode would be to low from all the discussions I have read but now I am wondering.
Maybe I will just have to order one of each and see for myself!
After all if it is to dim for me it should work great for my teenage son!
Welcome to BLF, larrupin! 55 here - I find the FF mode more of a novelty. It's fun to be able to look at an LED all lit up without being blinded. If I wake up in the middle of the night, I can see (barely) using the FF, but I can see a lot better using 3 lumens. It's really just a preference. Here on BLF, if you can't decide between two lights, you should buy both! Problem solved. 
Just a quick thanks to Thrunite - my wife received her replacement Ti today and loves it! Really nice blue 3 lumens…gets me off the hook!
