Recommend four bay multi chem charger

Hey guys. I currently have the older xtar wp2 two bay charger. I want a charger that will handle li-ion and nimh cells, not so tight that I have to pry out 18650’s with a screwdriver, and show the battery capacity(health), and user friendly. Anything else is a bonus.

What sort of price range are you looking at?
ive just started to upgrade from the nitecore sc4 to the new usm ones as i have to get a pry bar to get a 21700 cell out of the sc4!

That’s a really good looking charger. I think someone once recommended the Opus BT-C3100 V2.2. I think I’m kinda leaning towards that. I can have one to my door through Amazon for 37 bucks with next day shipping.

I’ve got ~25 NiMH/li-ion/multi-chem chargers here and have the Opus BT-3400 v. 2.2 (US seller model w/updated fan and display on/off) and it’s a very good 4 bay analyzing charger that gives us a good idea on how are batteries/cells are performing.

The Liitokala Lii 500 Engineer is a good charger, but like everything, you have to watch out for clones and not all of them are the same.

I’d say MiBoxer C4-12. I just received my C8 and I really like it. I believe the C4-12 is essentially the same but 3A max per slot instead of 1A max like the C8.

Looks to be a really cool charger, but I’ve read this charger is having some issues. Also, I read it doesn’t analyze the batteries to show their holding capacities.

I don’t think it is possible to “analyze” a battery and determine the capacity of the cell. Where did you read that people were having issues with their C4-12?

I can report that my C8 does, however, display how much it put back into the cell.

I just googled “review” of that particular charger. I came to a few different discussions where posters claimed to have had issues. Didnt really look into it in depth.

That’s incorrect.

You need a charger that can do a ‘discharge’ at X, Y or Z rates. Only then will you ‘know’ what the battery/cell’s capacities really are and then only for those rates.

I believe that the SkyRC MC3000 can do a 2A discharge, with most all other chargers doing 1A, which is still pretty good for a basic understanding.

My Opus BT-3400 v. 2.2 does 4 bays at 1A and I’m happy with that. For NiMH batteries, it only does 700mA for some stupid reason.

Plus it’s a multi-chemistry charger that has lower rates for our smaller cells, like the 16340 and 10440s. It’s lowest charging rate is 200mA.

I wouldn’t call that “analyzing” a cell. That’s just cycling the cell and logging the results.

Personally, I just buy known cells from companies like Panasonic who publish datasheets for the cells.
