There’s so much great information and so many excellent reviews here, it’s been a pleasure to read.
I’m not new to flashlights in general but 26650-powered torches are new to me. I just recently purchased the Jetbeam T4 which I’m very pleased with both in terms of beam color, structure, and handling. It’s my thrower of the two. The UI with the long hold to activate is not my fave but I can live with it. My second light is the Acebeam EC 50 Gen II in 5000K which I love! The moon mode is exactly what I need at night around the house, the color is pleasing, and the UI is very nice progressing through the standard modes as well as accessing the Turbo and Strobe modes. It is my general purpose and “impress the neighbor” light.
And in reading the various reviews, I see that there are a fair number of torches that might earn a place as my third light. So I thought it might be good to get some live recommendations to guide my research. Any advice you can provide relative to these wants/needs would be greatly appreciated!
uses standard 26650 cells, protected or unprotected
available in neutral-slightly warm tint
pocketable, can fit in a standard/generic holster for this class of light
can charge battery in-light, preferred
unique attribute or feature relative to the two lights I already have
So what do you think guys? What should lucky #3 be?
Yeah, been reading the G20 here and there but not encountered the DN70. The Orcatorch WR10 looks promising but I’m just starting to gather the information on it. Unfortunately, I can’t seem to find it for a good price on Amazon.
Cheers,
Wilkey
PS. Just did a quick search on the DN70 and DN 35. Both look pretty good? Any owners able to share their experience versus the two lights I have so far?
On a related note, what pouch/holster do you recommend for the T4/EC50-sized lights? It’s not quite as easy to find a good holster as compared to 18650 lights. Anyone have experience with the Ultrafire #402 style or the Nitecore NCP-30/40 or Gerber CustomFit?
For my 18xxx lights, I use Ripoffs brand exclusively but I don’t see any standard items in their catalog that would fit these 26650 lights.
Well, I’ve done a little research and found the ideal holster for my Acebeam EC50 Gen II. It’s a Ripoffs brand clip holster model CO-60. Here are some shots of the holster in relation to the light. BTW, you can find many a source for these holsters. Most recently I’ve been buying from Brightguy. This same model will fit the Jetbeam T4 and the Imalent DN70 I have on order as well (little roomy with this light but there isn’t a model that’s 3/4” shorter with 1/8” less diameter).

What I like best about the Ripoffs brand belt clip holsters, their rugged, secure spring clip. Easy on, easy off, no velcro, no snaps, just fast sure action of use:

In my opinion in terms of quality I would say yes definitely.
In terms of bang for buck (output for the dollar) the Z1 XHP50 (2 x 26650) is 2400 lumen stock & about $60 plus shipping
Yes you just order from Jaxman”s Aliexpress store https://www.aliexpress.com/wholesale?catId=0&initiative_id=SB_20170210103414&SearchText=jaxman+z1
I have a number of zoomies (about a dozen) including the Z1 XHP50 & it is the best quality & best output stock of the zoomies I have.
It is a very versatile light & probably my most used light.
Different tints are also available when you order :+1:
Jaxman also do a host for BLF members if you want to build up your own light.
Ordered! 2-cell XHP-50, warm white. Sooo, excited. My first zoomie!
And now to research which Ripoffs holster will fit my incoming light. :
Thanks, Bella
