Recommended little keychain flashlight?

I’m looking for keychain flashlight that is super small.

I’m going to compare it to Olight IR2 pro - I’m looking out for flashlight of similiar size or even smaller, but with more mah (runtime) inside (maybe interchangeable battery?) - so with as good throw but more runtime.
nice to have:

  • different modes, with memory of last mode. And even nicer: moonlight 0.5 lumen mode.
  • nice if magnetic.

I found and liked Lumintop Pimi 2.0 - but the screw off charging part is a deal breaker for me.

Any recommendations?

What do you think about:
lumintop edc pico? How would you compare it to olight IR2?
About olight iUltra OAL? - I think male usbc is not a good idea, although it kind of works for me - user of iPhone. I actually have lightning cable, but USB-c charging brick. So I wouldn’t need an additional cable. Also I kind of like the magnetic mechanism in that. Although, as I said - male usbc seems like an odd engineering idea.

I had 2 Iultra, gave both away to people I thought would benefit from them. I’m still waiting for another sale because I really like them. Many phones these days support reverse charging, and might be able to charge the light if necessary; the male usb-c comes in handy for that. I intend to open up my next ultra to see if I can make it run lower without compromising the charging circuitry.

Acebeam keylite 500.

I just got the Frog and I really like it. It is a little bigger than the others but it has a big button, USB-C charging, removable battery and moonlight (not very low).

2 Thanks

thanks a lot, iultra seems really nice

Btw what’s good sale price for iultra? When should I anticipate olight sale?

Although I really like my Acebeam E75 (also recommended in another of my posts, thanks community!) I don’t think acebeam keylite can compete against rovyvon aurora of almost the same size. I think I’d rather choose aurora over keylite - I also think about getting rovyvon

frog looks nice. How would you compare it to rovyvon a3? As I see both of them are in your collection

Rovyvon button is too small for me and I think the UI didn’t suit me. A small magnet may be attachable to the Frog but I haven’t tried yet.

Last Sale price I got them for $24…kind of pricey compared to the imini2. The sales happen semifrequently, usually around the consumeristic holidays, sometimes every other month. I haven’t seen the Iultra on sale since November/december, I imagine it’s popular enough that it can be sold at full price.

A little late to the party but this may help some…

Super happy with these two bad boys!

Aurora is SPECOPS operator for hard tasks of high lumen output (i.e. astonishing people in the park at the evening with bright flashes)

Olight iUltra on the other hand is an everyday sturdy companion, where little light is just enough to make a day (or night) bit better

the scratch resistance on the OAL is actually quite nuts…feels almost like a thick ceramic grade finish

My personal favorite is the Lumintop EDC01 for tiny lights, and the EDC15 for more variability/modes. They are twist-activated, so less likely to turn on in your pocket. They are on my EDC rotation.

I recently put a Tool 2.0 Nichia head on the EDC15. Very nice combo for a twisty AA/14500 light. A little large for a keychain but doable.
My keychain preferences are the Nitecore TIP SE and the TIP3. I also like them so much I have a TINI3 on the way. I’m hoping the warm color of the TINI3 is less yellow than on the TIP3 otherwise I really like the lights as they are a little easier to have in the bottom of a pocket without being as noticeable as some others due to how thin they are.

I like the little AAA Fenix E01. It ticks most of your boxes. Replaceable AAA Alkaline or NiMh cells. Three levels. No memory, but always comes on in the lowest mode.x

Which is my preference in a little light like this. It is thinner, but considerably longer than your IR2. Still I think by volume it is probably smaller.

Claim is for 5 lumens on low, higher than the 0.5 you mention.

I don’t consider any lights of this type to have much throw. But I think it has a little bit more range than my Olight iXV. Thhey claim 135 meters of throw on high.

Not critical when using it for things like finding a door lock or a quick look under a car seat for a lost item. For other things I have other lights, but none that disappear into a pocket with my keys like the little Fenix. Likewise, I would prefer a lower CCT and higher CRI emitter, but it is not a deal killer for me in a keychain light.

BTW it is a tad smaller than the EDC01. I also like the low/medium/high default on the Fenix better than the High/ medium /low default on the EDC01.

I’ve been running this little olight ir2 e0s for a handful of years. It’s great and pretty cheap.
I seem to remember I got it for free as part of a larger order though.

Eta: sorry op. I just realised this is the same light you’re looking to upgrade from

My favorite keychain flashlight is the Tunenge S15.
I don’t know how many of your requirements it fills, though.
Here’s my review…

This flashlight goes on sale on Vipon fairly regularly.

Search for:
keychain flashlight

Searching for:
Tunenge
doesn’t always help.

Vipon’s search engine is a mystery to me. :upside_down_face:

Vipon itself is a mystery to me.

another vote for the AAA Fenix E01.
going on nine (?) years now.
no problems.
