No problem Teacher, hopefully they will be ok. I’m not holding my breath on them actually being Damascus…… but hey I’m not going to lose any sleep if it’s not as they are still pretty cheap either way.
They actually look pretty good too - to the eye I mean.

Exactly GOOSE, I won’t loose any sleep either.
And when we actually get them it should be easy enough to tell if it is actually some type real Damascus or just a printed on design. :+1:

Those timber handle scales tend to be “slippy when wet”.

With a couple I’ve had over the yrs.
I’ve wiped with Acetone. then wiped clear Sikaflex Marine over them.
Smoothed most off so it’s just a light film.
When you get it right (a few practice runs on a bit of sanded timber first.
You get a very slightly tacky surface. with a 100% better grip.
I’ve done it on Stainless Divers knives too.
The secret is “very” finely… the lesserer the betterer.

That Damascus. Look at blade end as it blends into tang. and the cutting edge.
If it decorative you’ll see.

EDIT: Hmmm, after I wrote the above yesterday; my two show as shipped now (1 day later)… with Tracking number too. Maybe my ‘theory’ is not correct. I should know better than to try & figure out buying & shipping from China. .

It seems in these ‘Flash Sales’ they must be pre-selling what they do not actually have in stock.

I bought two of THESE also in a ‘Flash Sale’ & ship time is listed as CN-099:Ship between: Mar 07 - Mar 09. There are 218 of these left as I write this…. it says.

Anyway, I was just curious if yours had shipped. ~~I’m guessing they have not~~.

But I found it interesting how it appears they are doing things.

Mine has just arrived, either it is a REALLY good fake, or its real Damascus. I have a real one, and this looks identical to me. Lovely little knife.

Yeah… I’m looking forward to getting them.

As far as the leak thing, I’m still trying to figure out how serious it was/is. I always use PayPal & half of the info I provided is not real.

So…. I’ll probably keep using them until I find out it is really bad or something bad happens. :person_facepalming: … Then I’ll wish I had been more pro-active.

Well, from what I’ve read, it’s like this - somehow through the ‘app’ they have found a way in to Gearbests whole customer base - they can see and change anything they want - even order stuff f you have a credit card saved. They can also see what you have ordered. Most people tend to use Paypal, which is safer in my opinion as it requires ‘offsite’ verification, which cards usually don’t. of course if they somehow have your Paypal password you’re screwed, so wouldn’t be a bad idea changing that too.
Anyway, getting back to trying to make it simples lol - apparently Gearbest has happily ignored this for a while now, denying all knowledge so as people learn of it, they go on and change their passwords - of course the hackers can sit there and see all this, then resell your new info with new password. Does that make sense to you (not the best at describing this, sorry)
To be clear, they are not hacking your account to get the passwords - they already have it and if you change it they can get the new one too. that applies to all their customers.
Hopefully you can see the severity of it now and why it’s riled me to post so much.
It would shock you how unaware people in general are about security online - with a good percentage using the same password everywhere - which turns out to be their name backwards etc etc etc, you get my drift.

Never used a Credit Card at GB
My name, address, & phone number are real. Any other information is fictitious, such as DOB, age, gender, etc., etc.

So, from what you wrote; it seems that changing the password to the GB account is useless until GB fixes things. Wow…… I see how this could end up badly for a lot of people.

@ GOOSE …… My first knives finally arrived….

Well made little knife too. Well worth the money!!

The blade is a type of San Mai . There is a center core steel that runs from spine to edge and a layer of damascus is laminated to each side. The pattern of the Damascus layers emerges when the blade is ground. It is then etched to highlight the pattern.

Since we have no idea what the core steel is or what steels compose the Damascus layers…. who knows what the preformance will be. BUT…. it looks fantastic & will undoubtly function great as a small gentleman’s knife. And who knows…. we may find out the ‘mystery steels’ are actually decent ones.

Looking at the spine of the blade the core steel can easily be seen. It’s dark appearance leads me to believe it is a High Carbon steel.

Anyway…. thanks again for bringing attention to these. The fit n’ finish is just fine…. centered blade, even grind, wood slabs fit perfectly, good solid lock up with no blade play, & they came hair popping sharp too!!

They were/are more than worth the money!!
