I have no refactored XPG or XPE lights. I just started playing with Nichia 219’s yesterday and instantly fell in love. So I decided my TR-3T6 needed to become a TR-3B10. In the process of converting, I accidentally busted the dome with most of the phosphorous off one of the emitters. Then once I finished the conversion and had the light working properly I decided I needed to clean the reflector. As I was unscrewing the bezel, the reflector turned with it and completely sheared off all the emitters from their pcb’s. Down 4 Nichias that barely got to shine their light. Ordered 10 more 219’s last night.
Question: Does anyone know of any reflector insulators that snug up to the pcb of the Nichia 219 emitter (Not the star base) and also fit the typical XML reflector?
I like the http://www.fasttech.com/search?1258403 protectors from FastTech. I THINK they have the in other sizes as well. These offer some good protection but are sometimes a little thick. I build the part they go in so that isn't a bother but I can see for a Mod where they might not work too well in all cases.
I use two other things as well. Most any supply store has a .0625" thick neoprene sheet. I also like to use the super heavy labels by 3M that office depot has. I just cut both of these with scissors to fit what we need. Neither wrinkle up and cause problems. The neoprene is available in .0312" as well.
Wasn’t there a BLF member that “volunteered” to act as an agent for Tao? I think Chloe bought some Eneloop bags via him (I have NO idea why I remembered that). Was it WWEFANS?
All good suggestions. I especially like the make my own neoprene sheet idea from TexasLumens. So obvious, but I probably would have never thought of it. Thanks guys!
By “neoprene” do you mean something like foam rubber, like they use for (diving) wet suits? Also, when you say “supply store”, do you mean like an office supply store, or an arts supply store?
