These stock leds are extremely dim and warm for what i paid and need it for and i would like to improve it by replacing the leds. Suggestions on better and brighter leds that will be used on this gooseneck microscope led light for micro-soldering work? The MCPCB is about 16mm wide.
those are rebel leds, you can put brighter leds, what is under the mcpcb? is it sitting on something heat conductive, or hangs in the air?
you can put latest xpg/e, xpl and few others, even with same current they should be brighter
Might have to carefully modify a “normal” 16mm MCPCB then reflowing a 3535 LED Of your choice.
Kaidomain (and perhaps Convoy?) sell 10mm MCPCBs which might be narrow enough to fit between the screws.
What optical system does the light use? A reflector?
I’m not sure if it would be effective at this short distance, but perhaps you could achieve higher “brightness” by selecting a smaller LED for higher luminous intensity, resulting in a more “focused” beam.
Question about heat sinking is relevent if you want to increase the current to the LEDs by modifying the driver.
