Replacing a laptop CCFL backlight with LEDs

Here’s a clever guy (with too much time on his hands) that replaced an old laptop CCFL backlight with LEDs. He made a boost converter for the series connected LEDs using an ATTINY processor. He made the code for the processor available.

Yep, Sprite_tm does some really nice hacks. I still have a couple keychain photo frames using his hacked firmware to work as a mini usb display. Looks like that was 5 years ago now.

I like his CAD system… pencil and a napkin…

When the CFL display in my old laptop died, I just found a replacement screen/housing from a scrapped laptop for it on Ebay… $10… much easier to do… the guy has WAY too much time on his hands. Check out some of his other projects… sweeeet…

I like him adding a backdoor into a system via the firmware on the harddrive. Firmware rootkit.

I prefer the 3D Jello shot printer…

I like the non-PCB controller he made, just a bunch of components air-wired together, looks like the kind of circuitry that RdB made for his minimag builds :-)

Ok, da guy gotz some skillz…
