Replacing horrible yellow filter on Roche F12

Does anyone know where to get a CLEAR (or optically clear but coated) replacement filter/lens for the Fasttech Roche F12?

I liked the Fasttech gold Roche F12 so much that I bought two more, including one for the wife who also really liked it. But the new two came with this HORRIBLE (and I mean HORRIBLE) yellow filter. The first one was clear.

Thanks for any help you can give.

What is the lens diameter?

You would ask that. I don’t have calipers, but as best I can tell it’s 21mm.

Thanks for answering.

Well...I can tell you that won't be easy to find. I've been after FT to carry 21-22mm lens, preferably AR coated, and they cannot locate even plain clear ones. 20mm, no problem. 21-22mm, big problem. You can locate clear mineral glass lenses designed for MiniMaglites but they need to be hunted down and aren't cheap when you can find them.

MiniMag Lens

FlashlightLens has 20, 21.3, and 21.6mm UCL glass windows.

They’re not exactly cheap, but they’re not expensive either. They ship quickly too.

Any chance you can post pics of your yellow filter and maybe a white wall beam shot?

I might take it off your hands if you are able to find a suitable replacement.

Thanks for the tips so far. Well, if anyone has a cheap source, please chime in. I mean these lights are downright unusable as they are. What were they thinking putting in a sickly yellow filter in an otherwise great little light? Must have been LSD day at the Roche factory.

About every hour, I turn one on, thinking, “It can’t be that bad.”

And about every hour, I rediscover it really is THAT bad!

I had the same problem. Both my F12s shipped with horrible yellow tinted lenses.

I replaced them with 20mm lenses from International Outdoors. They fit fine, though you may need a replacement o-ring. On one of my F12s, the o-ring was glued to the lens and broke when I tried to pry it off.

20 mm AR coated lens

wonder if maybe you got a 7C instead of 3C by mistake?

edit: hmmmm now that we have multiple cases I am thinking not.
Extremely strange of them to use yellow lens.

Offer still stands… I will take them when you swap em.

THANKS!!! Three with free shipping for $6 is EXACTLY what I’m looking for. I thought a 20mm lens might work, but it was close. Glad to hear that it will work. I bought a HUGE assortment of o rings on ebay. Hopefully there will be something in there that I can use.

I just noticed that the one with the clear lens of the three is also 2-3mm shorter than the yellow-lensed ones. Weird.

Once I get replacements, I will probably soak the yellow ones in acetone or some other solvent to try and dissolve the yellow tint, so hopefully there won’t be any yellow lenses when I am done.

Fair enough mate. Yours to do what you will. If you change your mind drop me a PM.

Hope you are able to sort it all out.

That is weird. If you have time may we get a pic of them standing next to each other?

Actually, they ALL look to be of different lengths. They are different Mahs, but that shouldn’t make any difference.

The ruined annodzing on the left top Roche occurred when i was trying to get the bezel off with cloth-covered pliers, but slipped. URGGGGGGHHH!

Best way to get the bezel off the F12 is to use one of those rubber pads from the grocery store for opening stuck jars.

Place the pad in the palm of your left hand. Hold the head of the light in your right hand and press the bezel firmly into the pad. Turn.

No risk of damaging the anodizing this way and it comes right off instantly. This technique also removes the bezel on the Olight S10.

Usually you are absolutely kay-rect. But even with the rubber pad in this case …… it would not budge.

I even had the strongest man in Death Valley give it a go ……. And no go. (This after his latest successful feat for me — a week or so ago — in unscrewing a jammed pill in a Keygos M10. I had been trying to get that out for 6 months. He got that out without so much as a grunt!)

After I got the Roche bezel off with pliers, it turns out the o-ring was caught up in the threads, so it was a wonder I got it off at all.

Heres a couple that may be useful. The second one sounds like what your after. Good luck
