I find myself in need of an adhesive capable of maintaining a bond at high temperatures but with extremely low thermal conductivity, maybe similar to jb weld but with even lower conductivity. Suggestions?
Yes, this is intended for my contest build to reduce heat transfer from the radiator housing to the head and battery tube. I have some ti-6al-4v sheet I could incorporate as thermal breaks but an epoxy with suitable characteristics would be easier.
Plastic has pretty terrible thermal conductivity. What about adhesing to either side of a somewhat high temperature plastic like acetal or polycarbonate?
I was considering the possibility of a hi-temp epoxy and rather than mixing in carbide powder to increase thermal conductivity I thought about mixing in something like pumice to reduce it. I have most of a pound of very fine pumice used to polish scratches on tempered glass from a long-gone AFG window plant I worked for (the facility that made the windows for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame). Looking for a ready-to-use alternative to reduce experimentation.
