Reverse Soldering technique: a different approach!

Hey guys,

I just wanted to share my experience with something that I will call "Reverse Soldering".

This technique can help some people with soldering smaller parts. Like wires to a driver.

It might be a common thing, I dont know, but I got the idea, and it helped me, so I wanted to share this.

1. Put that iron down! (or better, clamp it onto something)

2. Keep the parts in your hands

That`s it!

(Other important things with soldering are of course: always have a clean Tip, and apply some tin to the tip before soldering. And use flux to make soldering even easier)

I can understand some of you won`t like it. Especially if you`re good at soldering. And at the same time, Im sure it can be helpful for others.

I made a short video

Try it!

The video isn’t working for me but I don’t have to watch it to understand what you’re saying. It’s a good idea. I’ve never really thought about doing it that way. I’ve been practicing my non-soldering skills here lately…this may actually help a little. I think I found it on youtube…

edit: Thanks djburkes! thats the vid.

Here is the link https://youtu.be/6k7x-OuGmoY

In the video I didnt clamp it, just put it on the stove. (still works, but not as good)

This teachnique will give you more control over the parts to solder.

I’ll try that next time I have to solder, thanks for sharing!

I like it! Very Cool! I have a couple different spare Irons that I could make holders for to do job specific tasks like that, damn good idea!!! 8) Specially doing multiple drivers / builds, sort of a production line!

Make sense, thanks for sharing ;)!

Ill have to try this. Thanks for sharing.

Yep you should try it.. maybe solder a few different things to see when this technique works best..

I also added some important information to make soldering easier and not let people down the first time they will use this technique and fail.

this is probably common sense for most, it's something I didn't do when starting soldering.

(always have a clean Tip, and apply some tin to the tip before soldering. And use flux)

This is the soldering version of: “if you can’t be with the one you love, love the one you’re with”
