Arrived: NA was DHL’ed to me.

Pros:

  • Beefy, I would have no issue using this as a hammer.

  • Good grip, despite no knurling.

  • No next mode memory (has mode memory)

  • Good hand feel (personal opinion)

  • Hexagonally shaped (will not roll)

  • Fits protected 18650s

  • Very nice matte anodizing.

Cons:

  • Strobe/SOS

  • Almost impossible to swap drivers

  • Stock lanyard is not so good. (one of the worst I have seen)

Other points:

  • Comes with battery (unsure of quality)

  • Decent threads, (but a lot of ’em), need at least a little lube to be smooth

  • Short centering ring

  • Press fit brass pill

  • SMO reflector

  • Holster is a good storage holster, not so good for normal use.

  • Has a huge thermal mass, so if you put a little bit of a TIM between the pill and the body, you can hot rod it to your hearts content

Unboxing:

generic manual (page one, and page two

head):

(ignore the dust and dirt, it was perfectly clean out of the box. Very well centered emitter.)

the internals:

The o-ring is very stubborn to remove, I recommend an x-acto wedged very carefully between the reflector and the o-ring, and pull. Then the reflector will fall out.

the shiny part is where the pill rests.

Pill back:

The reason the driver is so hard to swap is because of this press fit delrin (I think) ring, it has defied everything I have tried to remove it.

and the lanyard, 5 minutes out of package:

In true BLF fashion, the tail:

One final note: the first sample I received was shorted out so it was direct drive, and my second sample worked but was dead within 5 minutes. I have caused enough hassle posting this a month late, and having them ship a second one by DHL (probably not cheap), so I decided not to ask them for a third one, and to review the working one as is, and do beamshots later if I can get either working again.

I actually like the look of the light, at least on the outside. With two samples and both failing in short order I'd say that should be listed as a con and a deal breaker.

With a smooth pill and no threads to conduct the heat into the body, I'd guess that heat quickly killed the lights. An entirely unacceptable design and I really thought Brinyte was better than that. Good to know your experience with it. Thanks for the review! :) Did you happen to get any tail amp measurements on either sample?

Thanks for the doing the disassemble work. Nice to see that your has a newer XP-G2 as well, but bummer on the dud rate.

Dear musicmagic, thanks for the great review! I really appreciate your time and effort

I will ask Brinyte to check the light and improve it, thanks for your important notice!

oops missed the replies.

no amp measurements while the light was working properly.

the heat transfer is actually really good, even without any thermal grease.

thank you por posting it
