Thrunite has just released the new TC15 EDC with XHP35 making a listed 2300 lumens.

I have a sample on the way for review at this time and I will be posting that within the next 10 to 14 days , as I do not have it in hand just yet. Thrunite asked me to share some information at this time to help spread the news about this little powerhouse though , so I thought I would do what I can without actually having the light in hand.

First I will say that ALL my Thrunite products so far have been of excellent quality ( I think 15 or 16 now) so I expect that this new TC15 will be no different.
The TC 15 will be available in CW or NW , has USB onboard charging and comes with a 3100mAh Thrunite branded cell and charging cable.

This is the ThruNite TC15 , sent to me for review from ThruNite and NO other compensation other then keeping the light.

The TC15 came well packaged in a larger outer box with the ThruNite box inside that and large bubble wrap around the inner box. The package includes the TC15 , Nylon Holster , Spare O-ring x2, Lanyard , Pocket Clip ,
ThruNite 3100mAh 18650 IMR Battery , USB Charging Cable , Spare USB port Cover and a Spare Side Switch Insert.

This is an 18650 sized EDC with plenty of lumens for whatever the purpose may be , ranging from 2300 listed lumens in Turbo , all the way down to 1 listed lumen in firefly mode.
The size is very comparable to the always popular BLF A6 and other 1 inch tube lights.

The styling is pleasing to my eyes (I know opinions will vary) and the ribbing in place of the usual Knurling , not only looks good to me , it also provides a good grip and feels good in my hand.

The Included nylon holster is lightly padded inside and fits the light well , while having a belt loop holder and a plastic loop for attachment to a backpack or other desired places with the help of a carabiner or other such anchor or hook.

The Branding , or etching is also done well and I have found no thin or bare spots on the anodizing anywhere.

The clip is made sturdy and attaches with a good amount of force , it seems to stay in place well once attached to the light , while holding firmly when attached inside my jeans pocket also.

The XHP35 emitter is perfectly centered in a near flawless reflector and those sit behind an AR coated lens.

The fins are not large , as the light is not itself large , but for the small size , it seems ThruNite got the thermal regulation set about right to handle the large amount of heat coming from this light.

All of the threads are well cut and smooth on this light and they were lightly lubed upon unpacking.

The Cell can be charged either with the USB onboard charger , or the cell can be removed and charged externally on a traditional charger. I have also tried High Drain button top cells of various brands and they all seem to work fine in the TC15. The High Drain Flat tops however , are too short for use in this light. They will let the light operate , but with a bump or decent shake , the light will usually go off or change modes when using the flat top high drain cells.

The side switch button is like many of the ThruNite switches and it is a nice metallic button. The center of the switch is lighted to indicate power on (Blue) , Low voltage (Red) and improper charging or other problems with the cell (purple). When the cell capacity is at 20% or above the Blue indicator will show (other than Firefly mode) , at 10% to 20% the Red indicator light will come on and stay on steady. At 10% or below the Red indicator will then start blinking Red to let you know the cell is depleted. Once the cell is fully depleted the Low Voltage Protection will simply shut the light off.

The driver seems to be well regulated , as I checked the lumens with the included cell in Turbo mode and low mode , a Samsung 30Q , LG HE4 and an Efest purple high drain. All were within around 40 lumens of each other when tested in Turbo and in low mode all were within 2 lumens on my light tube / meter.
The run times and lumens listed by Thrunite also seem to be fairly accurate , as I know they will not be exact on every light no matter what company makes the light.

Below is my test results for the lumens using the included Thrunite 3100mAh cell and a Samsung 30Q for comparison. The run time testing was done with the Thrunite cell only , because I figured the results would reflect what the Lumens test showed with other cells also.

The beam is a nice defined hotspot that is not small but not too big either. There is little to no corona and plenty of useable spill for walking and such.

100 yards to Gate / High and Turbo

75 yards / High and Turbo

50 yards / Medium - High - Turbo

25 yards / L M H- Turbo

Overall I am liking this one very well and so far it has done well in my testing and short time so far of EDC’ing the TC15. I think ThruNite has another winner with this light IMHO.

Operation
•Turn On/Off
Press the side switch to turn the light on/off.
•Change Modes
With the light off, press and hold the side switch to get firefly mode. With the light turns on, press and hold the side switch to circle through Low, Medium and High mode. Double click to turn to turbo from any mode. Another double click to get to Strobe.
•ITC Technology
The light will automatically lower the current when temperature in LED or driver rises to 80 degrees centigrade to protect the flashlight from overheating. Thus to extend its lifespan.
•Battery Replacement
Take off the tail cap, insert the battery with the anode (+) toward the LED assembly (head of the light),
screw the tail on and tighten it all the way to operate the light.
•We suggest to charge the battery in the TC15 light. During charging, the indicator is RED; After being fully charged, the indicator will be BLUE; When indicator flashes purple, it means abnormal charging. Only firefly and low mode is available duing charging.
•Battery Capacity Indicators
Battery capacity: >20%, Blue light will be ON.
Battery capacity: 10–20, Red light will be ON.
Battery capacity: <10%, Red light will flash and remind to charge the battery immediately.
After being fully charged, Blue light will be ON.
Note: the battery capacity indicator will not work at Firefly mode, or when the battery capacity is 0%.

If this lumen number is accurate this would be one powerful boost driver. Also, seems extremely unlikely it could do 2mins of turbo before stepping down due to temp. Maybe they test it in ice water. Interesting light either way.

The Olight M2R Warrior (also XHP35) that I have makes 1725 lumens from a single cell and steps down at 3 minutes , so the 2 minute turbo @2000 Lumens seems well in range to me.

It weighs less than the M2R and requires nearly double the power to get that output. I suppose if 2300lm is turn on spec and it settles to something less for the duration. Will await your review!

Highly anticipating this in my hands.
I ordered one from Amazon but it’s not in stock until Nov 8. I’ll have it by Nov 9th. When I get it and check her out, I’ll post my thoughts.
I have the Nitecore EDC23 running the same LED and the Rofis MR30 Running the XHP-35HI. I also have the Nitefox UT20, Zanflare F1 and Sofirn 32A with XPL LEDs. Right now in my arsenal, the Rofis is by far the brightest EDC light I own in beam comparisons. This Thrunite will up against tall competition but I am hopeful.

Also hoping to see a review very soon!

Scratching my head on the effectiveness of the XHP35 vs just using an XPL HI like what is in the Fenix PD35tac or even the older Thrunite TC12 or TN12. The turbo in the Thrunite is nice but that step down is steep and quick. Not as useful after only 2 minutes. On the other hand, the XHP35 in this on just HIGH rivals the Turbo of the older models so it’s a small step better.

It kind of depends on what you are wanting/needing out of the light I guess. With the PD35 Tac you have about the same run time as the TC15 when used on High mode.
The TC15 is aimed more at an everyday carry where the PD35 is aimed a little more at Tactical use.

There are so many lights out there now days that have the same basic design with many of them having pretty much the same features also. Many times it comes down to the personal preferences of the individual buying the light and then more so the price point of the light.
Both of these lights come with Included cell and are USB rechargeable and all the same accessories , so if I was looking to purchase a light of this type , I personally would start asking myself a few questions if trying to decide between the 2 and did not already have one or the other…….

1. Do I want or need the tail switch that the Fenix has or is a single side switch enough for what I use the light for?

2. Do I need the extra brightness at times of the TC15 with double the lumens or no? (even if only short burst)

3.Which light is more appealing in the overall features and/or UI for my personal use?

4. If used as an EDC light and features of 1 or the other lights are not at the top of the list , would I rather pay the $49.95 for the TC15 or the $71.00 for the Fenix.

I am sure they are both good lights with the build quality being there , as I have a couple of Fenix lights and around 14 Thrunite lights and I don’t have any complaints about the build quality of either brand from what I have seen.
So again I am sure it will be what the buyer is wanting to spend and the personal uses and preferences that would be the deciding factor in the end.

Just got it. I was coming to notify everyone the same thing. I’ve been really happy with my Rofus MR30 but this light produces 700 more lumens of output. You can get the Rofus for $30 with a Vipon coupon which makes it a great deal. I think this will be a better performer. I’ll get the neutral white when it’s available also.

Thanks for the review.
Mine drops out of turbo almost instantly. 30Q, Vtc6, same result, I’m in the UK and it’s cold.
Any ideas?
