Fenix recently announced the WT20R with a whacky design and I haven't seen any chatter about it here on the forum. Since I love side by sides, and I have one on the way, I figured I'd ask - what does everyone think of this light? Is there anything you want to know about it that I could answer for you?
The nice folks over at Battery Junction sent me over one of these for a review, click here to read it on my site!

From the product page:
- The light takes a rechargeable pack or 2xAA
- The head rotates from a right angle to a traditional flashlight
- It has separate throw and flood LEDs
- The tail is magnetic
- The switch has a battery indicator built into it

Been enjoying mine for almost 2 months. Have been surprised about minimal mentions for a kinda handy design, when blinding overkill isn’t needed in close spaces.

I like this. Seems a little underpowered at 400 lumens with 2 emitters. Is the light well regulated on high?

Looks like something Steamlight would come up with. Good to see they’re still innovating.

Whacky? It looks awesome!
Thanks for posting, might’ve missed it otherwise.

It’s 400lm per emitter, but you can’t have both on at same time. One thing the literature doesn’t mention, is that the wide emitter is ~6000K, and the spot led is a nice creamy ~4000K. Regulation works really well.
I have only 1 question: Why is there no neutral white, high-cri version, with moonlight or real low mode?
But that would probably be a question for Fenix to answer.

Has anybody unscrewed the front bezel? Easy to swap out the LEDs?

There’s exposed screws there, I won’t be able to resist trying to remove them to identify the LEDs. Add King as it’s not glued or something I should be able to tell you.

I wonder what’s the beam profile. If these 2 LEDs create one defined spot mixing tints/temperatures may be interesting to apply.

Looks like a bounce-flash for a DSLR.

Excellent review!
Comparable lights?
Panda 3 Headlamp if you need dual emitter, flood + throw
Streamlight Clipmate USB if you need 50-lumen flood + red low level.
Various bendables like the Rofis R2?

Yeah the panda 3 certainly makes a statement about the size of this thing, in comparison.
I wish it had LEDs with better tint/CRI and was much less expensive.
I just can’t justify the premium price of Fenix products when there are so many really nice lights out there with better LEDs for far less money.

I like this light more than I thought I would, and the rotating head and custom cell both add to the cost, not to mention the mold - but I agree, if you’re composing too the big budget brands they’re certainly more expensive.
Did you get to trying to swap LEDs?
