[REVIEW] Haxtec HC10v2 (version 2)

Haxtec sent over an HC10v2 (version 2) via Amazon through UPS to me here in the Philippines, arrived in just 4 days!

Package arrived in a sturdy no frills cardboard box. Contents were:

HC10v2 Flashlight(with lanyard attached already) enclosed in bubble wrap
3 pcs o-ring (2 small, 1 big)
DLG 3200 mah battery
User Manual
USB charging cable

Impressions:

So just to be clear, this is the V2 or version 2 for the HC10 by Haxtec. Right off the bat, this light has a tactical style and a good fit for the hands. It has an aluminum anodized semi flat black, non glossy finish to it.

It utilizes an XML-T6 LED with a cool white tint, that gives off a pretty good throw alongside the pretty big smooth reflector, bigger than its barrel size. They did a pretty fair job on soldering.

It also has a side switch and a usb charging port with over charging protection, wrapped around this you can see ribbed cooling fins for maximum heat dissipation.

It uses 1 18650 battery, a DLG 3200 mah hi-drain is included in this bundle.

You can pretty much take the whole light apart as you can see in the pictures, from the Ultra clear glass which sits perfectly on the smooth reflector, housed in the tactical style bezel.

The driver and emitter is housed firmly so you need tools(probably a precision tweezers) if you want to take it out.

The barrel itself has a diamond pattern knurling only on the tail end part which provides good grip for twisting when you put in the battery.

The tail part has no clicky for a momentary on function which could have been nice given it's tactical appearance.

This light can stand firmly on it's tail even though it has a big head.

The beam on this light has a tight somewhat narrow concentrated beam pattern with very little spill on tight spots, but still usable spill for distances of 100 feet or more.

Apparently they decided to change the driver along with the modes. This new version has a different mode selection group which is similar to their other lights. It is quite new and different to me as a consumer to be dealing with the modes which are when you turn it on goes to High , press once, goes to low, press once again, goes to strobe, then another press to off. Long press to on any mode to get to SOS. I know, yes, not the UI we are used to having, but I'm sure Haxtec has a good reason for this UI configuration.

Overall:

I am impressed that this light can go on high for a very long time without stepping down and heating up a lot. Kudos to the design and very good build quality. With all these
features and performance, mind you that you are getting this budget light for only $25 on Amazon U.S. You get value for your money, and a good entry level tactical-ish light which
you can use on for your bug-out bag, emergency car kit, a bike light, or even for your EDC rotation.

Operation:
Press the side switch button to cycle through High-Low-Strobe-OFF.
One key to SOS: Long press the side switch to get SOS from any mode.

The flashlight looks pretty nice but for 25 dollar you can buy a similar flashlight that has a real Cree led (so better output and tint than this chinese copy) and a much better user interface.

Does the light show any visible PWM on the lower modes?

I actually have no way of testing it as I don’t have a light meter yet. But from the water and fan blade test there appears to be minimal on low (modes are only low and high anyway, as the last mode is strobe).
