This is my first-ever 21700 and 21700 torch.
From a battery perspective, the 21700 is way safer and more capable than the 18650. However, from a size and weight standpoint, it is a bit of a trade-off. I really loved my ZLs, so you can easily imagine why I delayed purchase 21700s even though I knew they were objectively better in every other aspect except weight and volume. Also, due to its energy capacity and volume, the risk of a much more severe results if thermal runaway occurs must always be carefully considered—even though the nature of the cell makes such an event less likely in the first place with proper care.
But, I wanted to see FFL707MD 4200K CRI98 with side addressed format, and It won’t fits to L50 Sol, so I pulled trigger for this.
Decent box, good to see foam is used.
L70 is Side addressed 21700 torch, OP reflector with clear AR glass.
Battery was around 3.7 V
AR coating has green tint
Threads has not lubricated.
I used typical Calcium sulfonate grease for it.
Also clips works as clip, at the first place. No additional bending or adjustment needed.
The emitter rated Ultra high nominal CRI value on their website, I expect really neutral colors from it.
And It seems it is.

Unlike the Z1 with its TIR lens, it has a non-translucent reflector. Only a tiny amount of light passes through the button, so the AUX lighting is not annoying anymore! Surprisingly, the POVD really starts to shine in this configuration. It is not annoyingly bright, is convenient enough, and works as a nice safety feature.
I will never turn on the POVD on the Z1, but I will never turn it off for the L70.
If the AUX is only visible through a translucent button, not a large area, and has a low enough brightness, I am a big fan of the POVD.
It was really interesting to get such a different UX from the same system.

The tint looks so natural and balance it is the best of all I have ever seen. Trees to the red fabrics, and all kinds of objects look exactly as they are. No signs of coloration for my eyes. Surprised.
I really hope to see this emitter in 18650 and AAA form factors. Feels magical, colorless!
