Too many comparisons here against custom smaller lights, and larger heavier stock lights. For me, I always want the smallest lightest light with the most output and throw, and have a long runtime. For a stock light, this is about the best I've seen combining these desired features in one light, certainly in this form factor of size.
Is it the perfect ideal light? No, of course not, but comparing it to lights that is not in the same form factor seems inconsiderate, at the least.
I can guarantee though, the Manker U21 will go on trips with me that an L2, L6, or S70 will not, strictly based on size.
For it's throw, it wasn't too long ago to get something to match this throw in a stock light, you had to get a ThruNite TN31 - a huge carry for $150 or more.
Please don´t let this thread derail or drift off to a fanboy thread. Be nice
There are many great lights out there, the Manker U21 surely being one of them!
I agree, my lights are weight, size, and performance scripted along with price.
With the ever changing advances in both battery and flashlight technologies, I like to purchase quality equipment and tools that in a few years could be handed down for others to use.
Please don’t get me wrong I mean no disrespect.
Again if the review was not so heavy on the price I would not have spoken about it and just thanked for the review.
Again calling a $64 light a real steal begs for comparison with lights in the same and lower price range.
What somebody wants to take or use on specific situations is up to all to decide right
Lol Thorfire did not paid for a good review nor asked for it, they paid so to speak with a light.
Not having the first negative experience (the paying) and the psychology of defending ones actions when something is bought, the biological processes how the human brain works and is active when something is bought or seen as expensive or cheap. All this is different in a gifted light versus a bought light. This no doubt will have its effect on a review, hence disclosing a product is gifted makes readers take it into account. Measurements, pics and a lot of information should however be pretty objective
Personally I take the opinions in reviews more serious when the object is bought then gifted and when reviewers have commercial interests even less.
I still like all reviews and beamshots, objective information that are found in even the most biast reviews can make them a great help.
(You see now why I asked twice if this light was bought?)
Somebody tags my posts here in this thread as rude…really?
Sigh, a few questions and comparisons done from genuine curiosity and somebody finds it rude?
After another review on the light we could explore more then just the light. I really enjoy comparing lights.
Well sorry Bugsy36, before leaving this topic, here goes the default works then;
Great review, nice looking light, thanks for sharing!
Some people need to read the review over and see how it finishes. There is more to this light (and all lights) than price. Some of us actually use lights while working to earn a living and for the same "value" and capability is more important than strictly price. Comparing apples and oranges is just ridiculous.
I remember some person that thought that spending more than $5 on a light was foolish. In my opinion...they should keep all of their free $5 lights that they filed claims on and let me and others use our $60+ lights that we appreciate for helping us get the job done. Some of us do not like to skimp on real tools.
As far as I am aware, there is no other flashlight that is as light and as powerful as this in the same class. C8's are a different class as are club lights.
It's been only recently added - there's a whole thread on it started by the admin of BLF. I think he'll only look at users repeatedly getting 'Rude', probably warnings would follow, plus he'll probably reviews the posts in question. Things got out of hand lately by only a few individuals. Differing opinions is fine, but consistent condescending tone or insulting sarcastic posts aimed at someone probably deserve to be noted.
It's just a simple attempt to keep things civil, friendly, and fun.
I am fairly certain that they mentioned in their introduction thread that the NW is coming but as for a price drop...I highly doubt that we will see that. Manker is following a completely different model now that only allows for quality that is competitive. Before people start with the apples and oranges...this is not the same as other lights mentioned.
I’ve got to say, and this is entirely in my opinion, I absolutely adore Manker’s recent form style. There is just absolutely nothing in excess. Those robust curves (especially in the case of the U11 and to some extend the U21 almost HG Gigeresque), the integration of the cooling fins, the mantle the electronic button sits in and the majestic emphasis placed on it, that unique rounded Manker tailcap with its raised central bobble and reassuringly thick but well integrated lanyard hole. The lights I’m talking about are the U21, the U11, and the E11. These are some of the most beautiful lights I have ever seen and I think they really thought through the form design.
I cannot say about the U11 or E11 as I do not have them but I do have the T01. That light will surprise anybody. Such a small package with all that power in stock form.
I think Manker is trying to copy Zebralight’s progress as a company. They want to be seen as a premium flashlight maker, and so don’t expect cheap lights. They’re competing in the same category. They still have a ways to go, as Zebralight took awhile before they got the kinks worked out. But, I hope they succeed, as competition is a good thing for us.
