Nitecore presents us with one of its latest innovations, the MT21C. It is a transformer torch of the Multi Task series with cigar shape, powered mainly by a 18650 battery. It has the characteristic of having the adjustable head from 0 ° to 90 °. With simplicity and immediacy it is possible to switch from linear torch to angular torch through four intermediate positions. The Nitecore MT21C features the CREE XP-L HD V6 LED with a maximum output power of 1000 lumens and IPX8 water protection rating.

The Nitecore MT21C sales package is the classic black / yellow cardboard box from Nitecore. On the packaging photos and writings show us the main features of the MT21C.

Inside the package:

MT21C torch, 2 × spare O-ring, lanyard, removable clip, holster, paper manual and warranty.

The holster supplied with the Nitecore MT21C is the classic holster that we also find in other Nitecore torches of this size. It is cordura with non-elasticated sides and a velcro closure with a plastic D-ring at the top and a double loop at the center in the middle, one of which with a velcro closure.
The Nitecore EA21 inserted in the case remains firm.

The MT21C, with its removable titanium-plated stainless steel clip, can be attached to pockets, backpacks or elsewhere for hands-free use. It is possible to insert it in two different positions. Good flexibility and balance the torch anchorage.

The Nitecore MT21C handles well, has dimensions and weight in the torch standard powered by a 18650. Good materials and construction.

The MT21C consists of three separate parts. On the larger part we find the rotatable head with the metal ring and the electronic switch. At the base of this section we have a wider part of a polygonal shape that prevents the rolling of the MT21C. Complete the torch the central body with the clip and the tailcap.

On the head of the Nitecore MT21C we see a crenellated bezel and the SMO (smooth) dish with the centered CREE XP-L HD V6 in the center. The glass has anti-reflective treatment.

As already mentioned above, the main feature of the MT21C is the 90 ° rotatable head. This happens through four steps in succession, from the audible click, which transform it from linear to angular.

Each intermediate position is blocked by a pressure mechanism with small slots located on the pivot of the rotation system.

On the head there is also a metal D-ring with which to hang the MT21C, when in an angular position, on protruding objects.

The electronic ignition switch with which we will also manage the user interface is of appropriate size. Being protruding, it is easy to find it in the dark and operate it with gloves. It is silent and has a bright ring around it that will show us the state of charge of the battery.

The central body of the Nitecore MT21C has a rhomboidal anti-slip knurling to improve grip in difficult conditions. On both sides we find well legible writings. The fillets arrive well oiled and allow, by a quarter turn of the tailcap, the physical block of the torch.

At the two poles we have a plated button at the positive and a plated spring on the negative. The Nitecore MT21C is protected against incorrect insertion of batteries (reverse polarity).

The tailcap has no holes for inserting the lanyard which is then attached to the clip. At the base has a powerful magnet that allows the torch to be firmly anchored to ferrous surfaces. The tail being flat allows the Nitecore MT21C to stand up (candle).

How to use:

The Nitecore MT21C has 5 brightness levels (Ultralow, Low, Mid, High and Turbo) and 3 special modes (Strobe, SOS and Beacon).

On/Of

Turn on: When the light is of, press and hold the On/Of switch to enter the Ultra-low mode.

Turn of: When the light is on, press and hold the On/Of switch to turn of the light.

Brightness Selection

When the light is on, tap the On/Of switch to cycle through “Ultralow-Low-Mid-High-Turbo”.

Constant Turbo

When the light is of, press and hold the On/Of switch to enter Ultralow and then Turbo. Release the

button once Turbo is activated for constant output.

Momentary Turbo

When the light is of, press and hold the On/Of switch to enter Ultralow and then Turbo. Release the

button after 2.5 seconds to exit.

Special Mode (Strobe/SOS/Beacon)

In any state, quickly tap the On/Of switch 3 times successively to enter Strobe. Tap the On/Of

switch again to cycle through “Beacon-SOS-Strobe”. To exit, simply press and hold the On/Of switch.

Power Tips

When the light is on, the power indicator will blink once every two seconds when power level

drops to 50%; the power indicator will blink quickly when power level is low.

When the light is of, tap the ON/OFF switch, the blue indicator will report battery voltage (to the

nearest ±0.1V). For example, when the battery voltage is at a maximum charge of 4.2V , the blue

indicator will blink 4 times, followed by a one second pause and 2 more blinks before entering the

standby status. Diferent voltages represent the corresponding remaining battery power levels:

Note: when using two CR123/RCR123 in series, the lashlight only reports the average voltage

between the two batteries.

ATR (Advanced Temperature Regulation)

With Advanced Temperature Regulation module, the MT21C regulates its output and adapts to the

ambient environment, maintaining optimal performance.

BEAM, RUNTIME and BEAMSHOT:

Discreet the beam of the Nitecore MT21C. Pointing the beam near the wall the spot at the edges takes a square shape with some artifact that disappears away from the wall. The distance from the start of the spill from the feet is about 50 cm.

Runtime:

The runtimes were performed in a closed environment at a temperature of 25 ° C. For the tests I used a Nitecore 18650 protected battery. The 3200 mAh battery has been fully charged.
The first test was done with the Nitecore MT21C set in TURBO.

The second test with the same operating conditions was done with the MT21C set in HIGH.

CONCLUSIONS:

The Nitecore MT21C is really interesting. Rotating the head to turn it into angular is very simple unlike other solutions already seen. Very useful then the magnetic tailcap and the metal ring on the head. For the rest of the construction, thicknesses and electronics are of good quality as all the latest Nitecore products I have tried.

Whoa! That is a strong magnet.

Nice review.

For this type of design (multi-purpose I presume), I would prefer a floodier beam as it would be more useful when fixed to other supports for hands free lighting. Just my 2 cents.
