WUBEN has recently updated one of its flagship “X” series models, the X1. It retains the same form factor as its predecessor, but changes some key technical details, while remaining a quality product with a refined and original design.
The new WUBEN X1Pro falls within the EDC category, despite its weight and size, thanks to its flat design and excellent grip. The WUBEN X1Pro features two floodlights and three beam modes: Spot Light, Spot Light + Flood Light, and Flood Light. It features a simple user interface controlled by a switch and a mode selector.
Maximum output reaches 12,300 lumens with a beam that illuminates up to 410 meters.
The WUBEN X1Pro is rechargeable via a USB-C port and comes with two 4800mAh 21700 Li-ion batteries, with a maximum battery life of 455 hours.
The WUBEN X5 is IP65 certified (fully protected against dust and water jets from any direction) with a one-meter impact resistance.

WUBEN X1Pro arrived in a nice light gray and blue rigid box protected by molded plastic. On the back of the box are listed the main features regarding the best performing beam type, the mixed Spot and Flood one. In the package I found: WUBEN X1Pro with 2 Batteries in 21700 format of 5000mAh, Lanyard with Type-C charging cable, Case, 4 spare screws and user manual.
The package also includes a USB-C to USB-C cable for charging the WUBEN X1Pro. With the new positioning system of the terminals embedded inside a rigid plastic, the cable can act as a lanyard.
The Case is open-type and its mechanism allows the flashlight to rotate in 45° increments. The WUBEN X1Pro remains firmly inside the small holster even if I personally would have preferred a classic case.
The WUBEN X1Pro comes with some interesting accessories, sold separately, such as the zinc alloy bike mount and the universal extension tube, with a 14" threaded port, compatible with tripods, spacers and bike mounts.
The WUBEN X1Pro has a good build quality, with a flat design and a weight of 383g (with battery) while the dimensions are compact with a length of 138mm. It sits well in the hand and is good for portability despite its size and especially its not exactly light weight. The flat shape allows it to easily fit into jeans or a backpack pocket. The white color with black inserts and writing is very nice; one of these reminds us to lock the flashlight with 4 clicks when not in use. The overall ergonomics are good with a good position of the switch, although being laterally positioned with respect to the beam type selector, it becomes more complicated to act on both without changing the position in the hand.
WUBEN X1Pro is equipped with 2 projectors and 3 beam types: Spot Light (left), Spot Light + Flood Light (center), and Flood Light (right).
Using the selector located on the top, under the light unit, you can choose the beam type.
This solution makes this type of operation very simple.
The maximum beam output with both projectors is 12,300 lumens with a maximum beam intensity, declared by the manufacturer, of 42,025 cd and a maximum throw of 410 meters.
The right projector (spotlight) features a CREE XHP50.3 HI LED, without a dome, which offers a maximum brightness of 3,650 lumens with a good beam depth, while the left projector (floodlight) features 4 CREE XHP50 LEDs with a brightness of 8,650 lumens for a diffused, flood-like light. Both are smooth but feature special ripples to optimize the beam. The lens has a purple AR (anti-reflective) coating.
On the WUBEN X1Pro, on the side, near the top, is the only switch available. It is round and has a status LED in the center. This electronic switch is flush with the base and close to the charging port. I find the switch’s location functional and easy to find; the click is precise and slightly noisy.
At the bottom of the X1Pro is the battery compartment door and some markings, including the capacity, watt-hours, and volts of the two batteries already inserted in the battery compartment. Below and to the side is the battery compartment switch, with a small metal lock button above it and some clearly legible symbols—a padlock (closed and open) and arrows (up and down)—that help you remember the locking/unlocking procedure.
The door lock button is well-made but very small; to operate it quickly, it’s best to use your fingernail.
The WUBEN X1Pro is powered by two 21700 batteries. The package includes two 4800mAh Li-Ion batteries with a maximum battery life of 455 hours (Eco). Both WUBEN batteries are protected against overcharging, over-discharging, short circuiting, and overcurrent. Non-proprietary batteries can also be used.
The battery contacts are springs and plated buttons, both on the top and bottom of the cap.
To recharge the batteries, on the top of the WUBEN X1Pro, there is a USB-C charging port protected by a small rubber flap. A USB-C to USB-C cable is included for connecting to an external power source (e.g., a USB adapter, a computer, or other USB charging devices) to begin the charging process.
A screen print above the charging port indicates PD30W input compatibility with a maximum output of 5V and 3A.
The WUBEN X1Pro can be used to charge other electronic devices, such as cell phones, iPads, AirPods, etc.
The charging time, measured in my tests, was approximately 3 hours with fast charging.
During the charging process, the status LED is red, and turns blue when fully charged.
The WUBEN X1Pro can be turned on and operated while charging (excluding the HIGH and TURBO white light levels).

USER INTERFACE (UI):
The WUBEN X1Pro has 6 brightness levels (Eco, Low, Med, High, Turbo, and Strobe) and a special SOS level. The levels are well-spaced with a very simple user interface. The mode selector allows you to choose the type of light beam: Spot Light, Spot Light + Flood Light, and Flood Light. The WUBEN X1Pro has a level memory (excluding Strobe and Turbo).

Instructions for Use
Mode Selection
Left Position (Spot Beam): Only the spot beam is on.
Center Position (Spot Beam + Flood Beam): Both the spot beam and flood beam are on.
Right Position (Flood Beam): Only the flood beam is on.
On/Off
Press the button once to turn the X1PRO on, press it again to turn it off.
The X1PRO remembers the last brightness level used, but not the strobe or turbo modes.
Brightness Adjustment
With the flashlight on, hold down the button to cycle through the brightness levels: Eco → Low → Medium → High → Eco.
Release the button to lock the current brightness.
Turbo Mode
Double-click the button in any position to activate turbo mode; single-click to deactivate it.
When the brightness is normal, double-click to activate Turbo mode; double-click again to return to the previous brightness level.
Quick Eco Mode
Hold down the button while the flashlight is off to activate Eco mode; click once to turn it off.
Strobe Mode
Triple-click the button in any mode to activate strobe mode.
Triple-click again to cycle through strobe modes: SOS → Strobe.
Click once to return to the original mode.
Thermal Control Fan
When the flashlight is on and the temperature rises, the fan automatically activates. The fan cannot be manually turned off in thermal control mode; it will automatically stop once the temperature drops.
In other modes, five clicks on the button manually turn the fan on or off. The manually activated fan automatically stops after 5 minutes.
The fan can be accessed by unscrewing four screws on the bottom of the X1Pro.
Lock/Unlock Flashlight
When the flashlight is off, click the button four times. The front light will flash three times to indicate the locked state. Clicking the button once will cause the indicator to flash three times to indicate the locked state.
Click the button four times again to unlock it; Eco mode will illuminate to indicate the flashlight is unlocked.
BEAM and RUNTIME:
In the wall test, the WUBEN X1Pro beam is clean and free of artifacts, with diffused, deep, or both illumination depending on the chosen lighting mode. The coloration does not have any particular changes, but is a nice, cool white.
I really appreciated the WUBEN X1Pro’s lighting; I found the levels well spaced and the lighting power was notable at the higher levels. The light has a nice color, and the ability to vary the beam type makes it pleasant to use. I didn’t notice any PWM at the various brightness levels, while the distance from the start of the spill to the feet was minimal when set to Floodlight mode.
I measured the luminous intensity (cd) at a distance of 5 meters from the luxmeter immediately after switching on (peak). The values were good. Below are the values for the three types of light beam.
The CRI, measured with the OPPLE Light Master, varies depending on the type of light, as does the CCT (color temperature). The values found in my tests are within the norm, with a CRI of around 70 and a yellowish beam color, around 6000K. Flicker is in the green range, safe in all tests. The Duv value is good at the highest levels.

Using a thermal imaging camera, I measured the heat distribution on the body of the WUBEN X1Pro in its most powerful mode (Turbo 12,300 lumens) after 1 minute, 2 minutes, 5 minutes, and 10 minutes from startup. Heat distribution on the body of the flashlight is fair. The head of the flashlight remains very hot, which is to be expected considering the light output at its highest setting. The heat is particularly noticeable in the hand on hot days during this period.
The Runtimes were performed indoors at a temperature of approximately 26°C using the supplied batteries, two fully charged 21700 5000mAh batteries.
I would like to point out that the values shown in the graphs should be taken primarily as reference values because they were obtained using different means and environmental conditions than those used in the laboratory. Measurements made with the lux meter report values in Candela (cd) and not the expressed brightness (lumens).
The tests were performed in TURBO mode and HIGH mode in the three available modes: Spot, Spot+Flood, and Flood.
The regulation was good, with runtimes close to those declared by Wuben.
In Turbo mode, in the three available modes, the brightness drops rapidly before the minute and a half mark, then stabilizes before the final drop due to the imminent battery drain. The WUBEN X1Pro has a status LED that flashes red to indicate impending battery drain.
Starting in HIGH, in the 3 available modes, the curve is almost constant from the start. Subsequently, depending on the type of beam and brightness used, it decreases due to the depletion of the supplied batteries.

CONCLUSIONS
WUBEN X1Pro is the most powerful product in Wuben’s “X” series, updated with a brightness of 12,300 lumens and two types of reflectors for a spot or flood beam.
WUBEN X1Pro is a magnificent product, almost perfect for outdoor lighting.
The X1Pro’s form factor is very attractive, it fits well in the hand, and the white color with black lettering is a perfect match. It’s noticeably heavy, but considering the two 21700 batteries, I’d say it’s within normal limits.
I liked the layout of the controls, which are all clearly distinguishable and within easy reach.
What makes this flashlight unique is its lighting power, with the option to choose between spot, flood, or both. The adjustments are also excellent (see graphics) and the user interface is very simple to remember.
The WUBEN X1Pro can also be powered by non-proprietary 21700 batteries and can charge other electronic products via the USB-C port.
