I see that a few reviews have been done on this light already so I thought I would toss mine into the mix as well. I have seen some nice beam shots and some comparisons of it to different beams. I Have some tailcap amp readings to add into the mix. The modes are nicely spaced. I really like the UI on this light a lot. I like that you can turn on directly to Turbo or Directly into moonlight. It has hidden strobe modes that are easy to get access to. You can lockout the buttons, you can turn on a locator led behind the buttons, which are also used to indicate battery life. Did I mention it has a built in usb charger. I have a baby coming in December and not having to fumble through modes when changing midnight diapers will be great. The light also has a built in usb charging port, and comes with a 3400mah 18650. I don’t have the means to calculate the actual capacity of the battery but read in another review that is was actually around 3280mah. Pretty good.

Pros:

  • Utilizes a CREE XP-L HI V3 LED rated output 1100 lumens; constant current circuit provides max runtime

  • Boasts a peak beam intensity of 10850 cd and a throw distance of up to 206 meters

  • Head Rotates to 90’ degree;Detachable magnetic tail piece

  • Charging module with a micro USB port charges Li-ion batteries rapidly;Power indicator’s secondary function displays battery voltage

  • Innovative dual button offers access to six brightness levels and three special modes;Direct access to moonlight output or ultra-high output

  • Has memory of last mode used. Not effected by the direct Turbo or moonlight use

  • Can lockout the switches - can turn on blinking led behind buttons for locating the light

  • Has a clip that works good.

Cons:

  • The head can be difficult to rotate. I list this this as a con but it still feels really solid and will stay put once rotated. I would rather it be this way than loose and floppy.

Design / Build Quality:★★★★★

The TR20 has a nice solid feel. The anodizing was perfect until I dropped it of a ladder. About 6 ft up DOH!! it only has a few small nicks and is otherwise still in perfect working order. When the head is rotated 90’ the operator buttons at right within thumbs use on the opposite side of where the light comes out. The threads were nice and clean well cut. It claims water proof to 2 meters but I will not be testing this one. I had it out in the rain at work and did not think twice about it though. My concern would be with the usb charging port cover. It fits good but I have no experience with how well these type of covers seal. I have always that of them more as dust covers than anything. It throws some it spills a lot I love it. It really works great for my use working in an injection molding facility. It gives me lots of light for fairly up close tasks but not such a hot spot that it becomes blinding.

Power Consumption:★★★★★

Using my Fluke meter I measured the amp readings and found the following. I liked the mode spacing and with a 3400mah battery I should be able to get some good runtimes with plenty of light for more tasks.

Turbo - 2.6 amps

Hi - 1.6 amps

Med - .46 amps

med-lo - .16 amps

lo - .05 amps

moonlight - ,020 amps

Summary:★★★★★

I find the TR20 to have a nice tint, a beam that can throw, but also has enough spill to light up the area close by. I like the angled head even more that I thought I would on this light. It gives a great solid grip in the hand and easy to change through the modes with your thumb. I have ordered and Headband that I can pop this into and use it as a headlamp as well. I will let you all know how that works out. I have a bunch of pictures to add and will get to it here shortly.

Can’t wait for more photos, this might be my next light. That holster looks good the way it can be turned on at 90 degrees and still illuminate from within the holster

Looking forward for the pics.

Update

I use this light everyday and love it. It resides in a headband strap I had lying around. Its the double loop rubber type. I use it at work, working on injection molding machines. We have 32ft celings with lights way up high, so technical work inside the machines electrical cabinets needs extra light. I usually can use on the second mode and its enough light. I have had some outside contractors bring out their “nice flashlights” and then I bring this out and they want one. One big factor they really like is the on-board charging capability.

It is durable I fell off the top of a ladder, off the forklift, out of my pocket a couple of times, off the tool box, only a couple of nicks on the thing.

I will be using this in moonlight mode when my new baby shows up Dec. 12th. Changing diapers at night. I have even replaced my homemade headlamp with this one for most tasks. I really like that one too. It is a copper number I made, running on eneloops, but thats a different story.

Based on your headband update comment, I am curious to know if you ordered the “Fenix Flashlight Headband (Fits lights with 18-22mm Diameter)” and then found that it did not work with this light (with its 24.5mm diameter). What brand headband strap did you end up using, or do you have any other headband recommendation?

Sorry for the Delay I ended up with a Skilhunt head band. Works great and of nice quality
