S2+ 18350 pill cavity (fitting 7135s)

So I’m looking to put together one of RMM’s S2+ 18350 hosts with a Nichia NVSW219C. I’m wondering how many 7135s can be stacked in there.

I’m debating using that host vs some other options (TBD). Thought about using a DD/FET driver, but after some thought…I’m not interested in running any DD options at this point since this light is going to be a daily user, sitting out on a shelf, cabinet, etc. and my kids cannot be trusted. I’d like to drive it hard, but I’m not using any Efest 18350s in it.

If anyone knows how many fit under there, I would really appreciate it!

Thanks!
G

The S2+ has a ton of room in the driver side of the pill.

Have RMM/Mtnelectronics.com build you a driver, ask him how many he feels comfortable stacking….

With the right firmware and a mild battery, a FET would do well too….

Thanks for the info. I might have Richard build the driver, but I do have a bunch of 7135s already and having him add six or more is a bit pricey. I just don’t have the host at this point. I didn’t want to order it if it wasn’t going to work out. Still contemplating the FET driver, but the few 18350 cells I own are capable of delivering higher amps. Given that I constantly find some of my lights in places I didn’t leave them (thanks kiddos) i’m leery of driving this particular one too hard. I’ll save that for another build

I built a triple for someone else that just used the 8x7135 and with the S4 2B LED’s, still pretty bright and floody for a current regulated light running 3A total (1A each emitter). I would imagine a 12x7135 would be pretty nice, but still get hot, the 8x7135 did not get significantly hot compared to my FET built triple. Start with 8x for now and since it seems you have the skills, add 4x 7135 until happy. There is about 3/8” of room in a S2+ pill above the driver shelf…
