Safe to use an Adaptive Fast Charging charger with Astrolux EC03?

This might sound ignorant but I thought it would be better to ask here.
The manual of the EC03 explicitly says to use a 5V, 2A power adapter.
It appears obvious to me that the Astrolux has circuitry to regulate the voltage and amps supplied to the battery during charge but does this rely on a constant power source?

I don’t have any but have several Samsung Adaptive Fast Charging units.
Can I use one of the above that outputs 5V 2A or 9V 1.67A?
I have no idea how the Samsung charger determines the required voltage (I guess interfacing with the phone when connected) or if the EC03 has some tolerances with the input voltage…

What makes me uneasy is the charger potentially supplying 9V instead of 5V.

I would not use the Samsung Adaptive Fast Charger as its meant for specific Samsung Phones. The charger talks to the phone and pumps current at a high rate. When the phone says “take it easy, you are hurting me,” it slows down.

I am not sure what would happen if you did try to use it but the result can be real bad.

I would go on Amazon and but a standard Anker charger or even better, buy a real Lithium battery charger like the miboxer.

Most likely it will only supply 9v if the device “asks” for it, so you should be safe.

It may charge slowly, some chargers will not supply more than 200/500ma unless the device uses a certain protocol to ask for more.

I agree, if it detects you don’t have a Samsung phone, it will probably drop down to being a dumb charger.

It seems that the charger falls upon default 5V unless the device asks for fast charge using the protocol. I have found some sort of common agreement about this through phone forums and many people that apparently are using the chargers for other devices.
I have connected the torch and seems to be charging fine. It would be nice to have a USB volt/amp meter…
