Hi I recently had a order from Aliexpress that was returned to the sender. The reason given was the package failed the safety check point. So I was told to start a dispute. I was given a refund. I was notified yesterday that a order I placed with Fasttech was delayed because of the security check point.Has anyone else experienced anything similar
Do they mean customs in your destination country? There are various security checks for international shipments, mostly to detect substances that are illegal to transport or could present a danger to infrastructure/recipient/etc.
I order a lot from various places to both the US and the EU. The only warning or sticker I get is that the EU normally doesn’t allow import or transportation of lithium cells (yellow sticker).
Looks like this:
That is a safety violation but the shipment normally will be delivered anyhow.
Other than that, I am not sure what safety they would mean.
The package from Aliexpress never left the country. It was sent back to the sender. The one from fasttech I was told that it was sent to a different hub and then sent.
ah, yes. There is also an export process in the place the shipment is sent from. If anything goes wrong the AE system normally says “shipment cancelled” or returned to sender. You’ll get a full refund. I have those all the time.
Not sure how safety or security plays a role, but it is possible that in rare cases they won’t ship an item for reasons beyond our knowledge.
Did you order a knife or a device containing lithium-ion batteries (e.g. flashlights)? I can only guess but some logistics providers may not be allowed to ship certain products to certain countries anymore for legal regulations. If the sender picked the wrong carrier it could turn out this way. I once ordered some Ganzo knives from Gearbest. In the beginning it worked fine but at some point (between 2019 and 2020) most of my orders were stopped at the departure location. BTW, these were my very last orders with "Gearpest" since they took the liberty to not refund shipping costs to my account.
How long was it in transit? My most recent Ali order from Simon went through the same thing. Returned failed security (twice) / resent, flight departure, flight arrival, Yada Yada for 4 weeks. I gave up torturing myself with the useless tracking, then last Saturday I get the obligatory Ali email to “go claim your order at local post office ”…it was in my mailbox at the normal delivery time. I’m learning patience with every overseas transaction (esp. China). Logistics is a nightmare all around the world lately. Shipping brokers bidding and fighting for dwindling space on commercial flights, cargo ships dumping thousands of containers into the oceans (probably contributing to recent li ion battery shortage) and getting stalled outside of ports, in canals, etc… Additional manpower constraints from the Sars episode….it all adds up. Doesn’t answer your question about the ‘security’ failure (God knows what that’s all about), but sometimes you just gotta wait it out. What’s the default time for Ali claims for lost shipments, like 180 days or something?
Last year, due to pandemics, I had a tripod being sent back to the seller (AliExpress) even before leaving China. The shipping method was not suitable at the time, so I had to change the shipping method. It was sent again and it arrived some (long) weeks later.
Some time ago (2 years?) I ordered a Klarus flashlight from BG and it was sent back to seller 2 times (I am not sure why, but maybe due to battery issues). I was given a refund.
As cyberpunk showed, I also get some packages with that yellow sticker showing non-conformity with EU laws/regulations, but if/when they arrive, it’s OK!!
This yellow sticker mentioning art. 9 and 10 is about custom tariffs, not related with knifes, safety or anything like that.
It means you may be charged with custom fee. If you have it at home-you don’t need to bother.
Really? That is interesting to know, my friends in the EU always get them with power banks and flashlight batteries. Or photography lights that have lithium cells in them. I don’t think they order any knives due to the very restrictive laws where they live. I have only heard of this sticker with batteries. But it could be various things, of course.
Thanks for the clarification.
Well thanks everyone for the info.I m going to try once more. What is upsetting is we can’t manufacturer these here in the US of A. Who’s brilliant idea was it to let manufacturing go to other countries.
I got 50+ packages last year (received in 2 EU countries, usually from AE), most of them with this EU regulations related sticker.
And flashlights or batteries were only in few of them
I’ve had a convoy S2+ that was ordered back on April 11th from FastTech (aka SlowTech) and has been rejected twice for this safety check failure. So far it has spent the past 30 days in and out of Kunming City, and is still there today. Support tickets with SlowTech have not helped at all.
I had a special sale Convoy C8 ordered from Simon’s AliExpress store, he promptly shipped it, and it was rejected/returned for failure of safety check at Shanghai City and then again at Hangzhou. This happened May 9th - May 13th.
I believe Simon got involved and it is moving again without going all the way back to Simon. It’s currently clearing customs in New York as of yesterday.
That’s 2 flashlights, in the past 6 weeks, out of about 16 ordered so far.
From what it looks like, we aren’t the only ones going through this BS. I don’t know what is going on but I’m glad to be ordering from AliExpress and especially Simon’s Convoy store.
Which is simons store.

Well now, stuff has been made/traded/purchased from overseas since the beginning of trade routes.
Spices, Rugs, Perfume, Silk, list goes on.
Many of the toys that we played with in the 1960’s & 70’s and probably earlier than that had stickers “Made in Hong Kong” “Singapore” “Made in Japan”
Whoever had the best combination of labor rates, tax incentive and production capability is who ended up with the contracts.
And the quality was good. I have 1960’s Aurora slot cars that run as good as new with proper oiling & maintenance.
Walkie Talkies/Radios as well.
Some of the best vintage Hi-Fi is from Japan.
Don’t get me wrong, still love my USA made Guitars, Tools and Levi’s and of course Detroit Muscle.
Different tools for different jobs that’s all.
Here’s a new twist, bought 2 5000 BTU Air Conditioners at Home Depot on Sunday and they are made in Thailand, brand is LG.
Gotta say the metal is thicker, better fit and finishing overall and the sucker is quiet. Can hardly hear the compressor come in, very smooth startup.
We’ll see how they hold up 3 years or so from now but like what I see compared to the Chaaana product.
Enjoy the day,
Keith
