These lights are essentially identical to the new SC54c N.
The only difference is the number 53 instead of 54 printed on the body.
as McBob explains here, and here, they use the same driver, which is AA Only, No LiIon.
I dont put much credibility on the different outputs claimed on the webpages. imo Zebra simply has not updated the outputs on the SC53c N page to disclose they use the identical driver, and outputs, as the relabeled SC54c N.
Well, it’s not direcly a budget light, what makes it worth even the 60$?
A Convoy T7 which can also work with a 14500 is $16.35 and I can choose the tint of the LED.
So $45 for just a couple of driver shenanigans minus 14500 compatibility and tint choosing?
Maybe your idea of budget is different. Maybe your idea of features for a specific need is different. That’s fine. I’m not sure if the best approach is to dis someone’s suggestion to notify interested people of a sale though.
That’s a matter of opinion. There is more to consider than base specs like battery type and emitter. The T7 has a proud button, rather square edges, and is physically larger than the SC53 series making it less pocket-friendly. Zebras also tend to have better current regulation.
Is a laptop good value for money? Depends on if you need a laptop or you just want a computer. Same thing here imo
Totally not the same thing here.
Computer vs. Laptop are two different usecases - but here we are talking about same size flashlights with the same front button, same battery* and same emitter, just one costs 4-5.5 times as much.
*the Convoy can take LiIon and has a big advantage because of it.
I crossread 3 pages on the CPF thread, and even there they aren’t really happy about the price and compare it to Convoy
The sale of SC53c N is Out of Stock now… I dont know if there will be any more available.
I had emailed Zebra earlier, asking if the present batch of SC53c N that was on sale, is LiIon compatible or same as the Non LiIon compatible, AA Only SC54c N… they replied
“This drivers in this SC53c N batch that’s onsale now is very close to the ones in SC54c N lights.”
I take that to mean the sale lights had the new driver that is more efficient, but for use with AA only.
