I bought another SC31 pro for actual use and at the same time to use as host to test LEDs. A few things that I noticed:
1. The clips:
- an earlier one that arrived 2 months ago has a clip that is black painted, but I removed that and then it has a silver colour, looks like stainless steel. This pocket lamp came with the AT1616 and new 3 pin pads for easy reprogramming, so I decided to buy another:
- the latest one that arrived about a week ago has a clip that has a dark gray colour (again I removed the paint), with a bluish gleam, so that looks to be standard steel…
Stainless is usually less attracted by magnets, but both clips seem to be attracted with about the same force. I will see if it starts to rust with some help from water ![]()
2. Incorrect voltage settings:
With the newest one I had an issue of it stepping down immediately to a very low output despite being cold and with a full battery. I thought it could perhaps be an incorrect temperature setting (does that work with the 1616?) but going through the temperature checks that come after the voltage check I noticed that the voltage check was always 3.7-3.8 V. So, remembered a comment of someone mentioning doing a factory reset that he did ‘just in case’, so I did that with this lamp and the problem was gone. But this was a new lamp, so should the settings not be ‘from factory’? I suppose it is unlikely that it is a missing initialisation in anduril or a compiler bug as then many people should have noticed this, right? Just wondering what could cause this.
EDIT:
3. Strangely the 2nd SC31 pro came with a SST40 that was stated to be 5300K on the packaging, not 5000K as on the earlier one and as stated on the website. It is very green so replaced it quickly with a 519A.
