This is not a mistake, it’s normal practise for professional sellers.
If you don’t have a good in stock, it’s easier and without a fee to rise the price extremly (to such a price, nobody would buy). If they have it in stock again, the decrease ethe price back to a normal level… If they end the auction and restart it if they have it in stock, they have to pay ebayfees.
I have seen this often and the first time, I was confussed, too.

The problem is they won’t get me as a client for example, as I use often the “add to list” button when searching a certain article, if I see something for 20 times its value, I won’t check it again.

In the meantime I had politely asked the seller if it was a typo, and he confirmed it's just out of stock, and that the price will be normal again when in stock.
