I’ve been wondering what a good setup is for measuring lux?
I know that, for a thrower you want some distance from light to meter, say 8 meters/26 feet, but the only place in my house that comes close to that distance unencumbered is in a hallway.
But, looking at DrJones’ pages, it says to avoide walls and windows? Obviously, a hallway would have walls :)…
So can someone describe your setup for doing lux measurements?
Also, DrJones’ page says to do this in a darkened area, but how do you read the results if the meter is in a darkened area?
Exactly the same question I wish to ask. I have ordered a budget lux meter from Fasttech and wish to know the best way to measure my light correctly.
P.S. I guess when your flashlight is pointing at the lux meter the lux meter is also being lit up at the same time and you are able to read it, isn’t this is what you mean?
i dont know an optimal "firing range" yet, but i am thinking of setting something up outside. right now i am using my dartboard in the dining room to hang my light meter on, and shooting from my living room from 157" (3.99m)
Yes, except (1) If the area is darkened, you can’t read the meter display since it’s non-backlit LCD, and (2) I definitely can’t see/read the meter display from 8 meters away :)…
