I ordered a mc13 with the sft40 led, I am wondering what I can swap it out to for a warmer tint. I haven’t got it yet but I assume an sft40 is 6500k (haven’t been in it for a while so I’m new to these new emitters). Looking for an emitter I can put in there that is ~4000k
The answer is no.
There aren’t really any similar 3V alternatives.
There is the XPL HI in warmer tints. It is a different package size so you would need a different mcpcb, and it wouldn’t be as bright as the SFT40.
I have wondered what a sliced 5000K SST40 would look like. I have several of the sliced cooler SST40s and the intensity is quite good if they are sliced well.
Wonder if anyone tried slicing a new-gen XML2. Flip-chip so no bond wires to worry about. Available in way more color temps than SST40.
The older XML2s were very easy to de-dome with a little heat, no need for slicing
