Shadow GF2 - HA gray version of the GF1?

Not a fan of the Shadow GF1’s ‘Caked Mud’ color? Looks like Shadow just released the GF2, which is almost like the GF1 w/ the 18650 tube, but in gray!

Other than the anodizing/color, they also made some slight changes to the design of the head and battery tube. Seems like everything else is the same though i.e. modes/UI.

Haven’t seen it on any of the English-language stores yet, but it’s available on Taobao. Link to item and more pics: http://item.taobao.com/item.htm?spm=a1z10.1.w317710177.26.M6LjPF&id=17612213079

Soooo tempting…. S)

Thanks for sharing. I’ve got several shadow lights, their gray colour is nice, although the GF series looks hideous to me.

I tried to buy one of these from China, unfortunately though the seller would only ship DHL express which cost more than the light…. oh well will have to wait for the other online sellers to stock them

Hank at Intl-Outdoor has them

Here we go

Thanks for that link, price is still a bit on the high side I reckon, still it’s $5 cheaper with shipping than the other option I looked at (shipping was $24)

Just bought this one off Wallbuys for $29 after may 15% discount, if it actually makes it to me (lol), I will put a review up…

Happy with this torch, it seems to be comfortably the 480lm as advertised (need to test it though), significantly brighter than my crappy XML T6, 5 mode ultrafire 1800lm (yeah right) 18650 torch… Obviously not as bright as my 800-900lm EA4 or Sunwayman D40A, but much more compact…

Must say my ‘grey’ one is grey but also has a definite olive tone…

Due to short reflector the spread is rather wide (flood like), single button use is OK, single press through 3 brightness modes, double press for strobe and long press to turn off…

Mine does have an XML-2 chip in it and I bought it from the link below (when they had the 15% discount)…

joele,

What about attaching a clip to this light? Is this possible? Like this one? Will the light easily turn on in your pocket due to the side switch?

Have you go the 15% discount code

taff - Sorry the 15% discount code I had expired at the start of June, I don’t know if there is a new one?

GarryBunk - I don’t think that clip would be able to be attached…

It is pretty good, the button press is firm and deep, so as yet I have not accidentally turned it on…

Hi,

I just got one of these today, and tried a Solarforce clip. The clip actually fits, but:

  • Since the body only comes apart at the head, the clip has to be such that it’s backwards
  • The light won’t turn on with the clip installed. I think that the reason is that the body threads are anodized, except for the front edge of the body, and it’s designed so that you have to screw the body all the way in to contact the negative ring that’s inside the head. So, when the clip is attached, you can’t screw the body in far enough for the front of the body to contact the negative ring.
  • The threads seem to be cut so that, without the clip, the side switch ends up at “the correct” position, but with the clip, the switch ends up in an awkward position when the body is screwed in.

If you find a clip, it’d have to clip around the body in order for the light to work, I think.

Tailstanding is great though.

It’s very much flood, and lights up a fairly large area. On a whitewall, it has a very “vague” hotspot.

I measured lux at about 3900 at 1 meter.

There’s a small aluminum (?) slug in the tail end. I thought it might be a magnet, but it’s not, so not sure what that’s for?

Hi,

I found a clip that works perfectly with the GF2!

I had this light, one of the 1st that I bought from FT, awhile ago:

https://www.fasttech.com/p/1206501

it has a “spring” type clip, and I took it off of the light, and put it on the GF2. It looks like it’d work either backwards or forwards, too…

I know that it’s a bit much to buy a light just to get a clip, but I haven’t been able to find a clip like this for sale by itself.

I bought a couple of these from Wallbuys when they were on sale (not that that price is bad, but they are out of stock now). I'm not using them for anything. It's intended for some Olight lights.

Does the GF2 starts always on LOW or does it start on HIGH?

Always starts on low, with a click to cycle through modes and double-click at any time for strobe. Got one a few months ago and quite happy with it for the price.

I really like the look of this. Could be a contender to replace the UF-T50. What I would really like to see is access from off to both low and high, but you can’t have it all for $30.

of this light in the forums if you search for the model.
