Shadow SL3 - Flaky?

I just got a Shadow SL3 today, and I don’t know if it’s just mine, but it is a bit flaky:

- Sometimes it won’t turn on using the side switch.

- Sometimes I can turn it on, but then can’t turn it off using the side switch (have to turn tail to turn it off).

  • Sometimes it seems to get stuck in a mode and then I can’t turn it off except by turning the tail

Mode changing also seems to be really slow?

Is this normal for the SL3s?

Edit: Also measured lux in high mode, and it’s only about 27Klux. Seems a little un-throwy :(…

How much lube do you have on the threads?

where’d you buy it? shadows are generally very well thought of and the sl3 is supposed to be a not so bad thrower for a tripple, the vid I saw impresed me compared to the jm26.

It doesn’t look/feel like there’s any lube on the threads on the front of the body.

I bought it from Wallbuys.

I think that it might just be really SLOW. What I mean is that after I tighten the body to the head, it flashes(?) once, and if I try pressing the switch too soon, it doesn’t do anything.

[Is the flash normal?]

If I tighten the body, and then wait for awhile it seems to respond to the switch better.

I still don’t get why it appears to “hang” occasionally in a mode and the only way to get it back to working is to unscrew the body.

my sl3 does not have any of those problems mentioned other than the flash when screwing the tail cap on.

I got a SL3 from WB as well. Mine shows no sign of any of those problems. Have not seen it get stuck or anything.

The flash when you fully tighten the battery tube is normal. I think there’s a video out there that mentions it.

I just got my holster for the SL3 from International Outdoor Store yesterday. It fits perfectly!

Hope you get yours sorted out and it’s not a faulty light.

I think it’s you… just hand it to me… i know how to properly dispose it

Maybe it is me. I don’t know. Sometimes, it seems to work perfectly, but sometimes it just starts acting strangely. I was out with it tonight, and at first, couldn’t get it to turn on. Then, later, I couldn’t get it to turn off (had to unscrew the tail). The part that’s weird is that mine seems to be the only one that is acting weird?

EDIT: I’ve emailed WB, to see what they say. Thing is, this is the 2nd light from them that I’ve had problems with recently. Ironically, the (third) one that works well is also a Shadow, a GF2, which I really like…
