I was curious about the Shadow X11 bike light at Int'l Outdoor Store and whether or not it came with a battery holder or not and what the mode spacing was. I emailed Hank and got the following response:
The product page already states the batteries are in parallel. This seems like a nice option for those wanting to use their own good batteries and not the cheap battery packs. The battery holder doesn't look real high quality nor very water resistant. One could always try out the Spark 4x18650 battery carrier too but I don't know if the cable connections are compatible without modding.
I’ve heard somewhere the X11 can only take unprotected batteries, not sure if it’s true but it wouldn’t surprise me as it’s a fairly old bike light, and some of the older shadow lights had problems accepting the larger protected batteries and seemed built for unprotected cells.
hmmm… most bicycle lights is using 8.4V these days…
i like sparks battery case, but it looks like it’s made for for 4.2V?
but the question is regarding the shadow light is… does it come with mount for the bike?

Yes it looks like 2*18650 in parallel so that is 4.2V. Also it appears the driver is some 7135 based driver and that is the 4.2V limit.Considering the bike lights need long overall circuits (two way) 4.2V is not a good solution for high currents.
