I have the DRY which is very similar to the king and I love it. I would personally take the DRY over the king for the extra lumens and better modes.
I'd be looking for a AA/14500 that I liked
And i'd buy a few cheaper lights before i spent big money
knowing what you want is half the battle .
where are you going to use it ..carry it etc ..
Do you want to light up your whole backyard or nail the shed out back with a bright 12foot spot??
Just buy and experiment yourself. Check out reviews of the lights mentioned though.

Is this a problem? As mentioned I a newbie to this but do rellay all batteries have to be equally charged?
As for checking up on the horses they could potentially be som 300 meters away and that’s why I’m looing for a firly good thrower as well.
I’m leaning toawads the King (that light has stuck in my mind for some reason) an maybe the Jacob A60 to try out what I think about a throw light without spending to much.
I will read more about the C8’s as well. Maybe for the car if I do not go for one light only 
Welcome to the forum. Lots of lights to choose from but flood or throw? My personal preference is for floody lights but I’m not into tactical stuff. A pencil beam that throws 100 meters won’t be nearly as useful at 1 meter but would be way more effective penetrating fog. After buying 1 or 2(or 3 or 4) you will narrow the field and after a few months the one you pick up the most will tell you where your preference lies. If I was buying a first light for every day use it would likely be a single XML - single 18650 torch with 2-3 modes and grow from there.
let us say you use 3 batts of the same flavor & each one comes of the charger at 4.2 v but two of them have 3000 Mah & the 3rd has 2000Mah. Could/would this not be a potentially serious problem (reverse charge) even though the volts are the same? One always hears that just checking the volts is enough for multiple batt configuration. It would appear that having the same voltage (with different mah) is not safe enough? I don’t know, just saying. Hope I’m making myself clear. I am now comfortable using single 18650 & am wanting to go multiple battery config & just thought about this scenario in terms of safety. What say ye all?

The problem is let's say they both have had 2000 mah pulled out of them. Then the 2000 mah one will be dead while the 3000 mah ones will still be supplying power. This can lead to reverse charging.
Depends on your budget really, the hd 2010 is nice, throw is about as far as you could ever want unless you live out in the country
All you REALLY need is a thrower a flooder and a p60, recommended setups >
Cheap > KING, HD 2010, solarforce 100 bucks total
Midrange >TR-J16, Crelant 7g9, solarforce 200 bucks total
Higher > TN 31, TN 30, solarforce 500 bucks total
Best > SR95ut, marauder x6, tricked out solarforce 1200 bucks total
Both - probably not a new comment, but the right answer. 
The marauder x6 already has like 120k lux though… And has massive flood too. It is pretty overkill unless you like that sort of thing. I don’t even know what kind of use it would have on full power. The spill would be so blinding that it negates the use of the throw.
Well, I decided to go for these:
- Jacob A60 to try out a cheap thrower.
- Sky Ray King for flood and power. A general puspose light that is not too big (but still too big for an EDC I think)
- UF 2100 modded by E1320 as EDC which I did not know I needed but after reading this forum I think I will “need” some more lights eventually
Waiting for the first two to arrrive. I wonder what I “need” next :bigsmile:. Maybe the Sky Ray King headlamp for my quad when plowing snow……
For the first time in my life I think I kind of miss the Swedish Winter darkness. I must have gone crazy
