Should I by klarus p2a or something else?

I finally decided to move to something better from chinese cheapos. I’m thinking about Klarus p2a ($23.9 after blf discount at banggood). Seems good for me. The price is right. Build quality is good from reviews. 245lm on high is enough for me, and 30lm on low is fine, I don’t look for ultra low modes. I like the 2AA form factor over 1AA.

Just wanted to ask before I by it. Probably there are better deals out there. Something cheaper with comparable quality or more expensive, but worth the extra money.
I prefer AA lights, but may as well go for 18650 if there is a deal good enough to make it worth to buy the batteries as well. I would like to stay within $30 though.

Thanks.

If the 245 are chinese lumens, what are the ansi for it then?

Not sure why you are getting the spam replies.

The P2A is a very nice 2xAA light. Output is ANSI rated at 245lm and having bought one it definitely appears to easily make this. For the money it is a very good torch.

I was considering it, there is no tailcap opening, only a head opening which i thought was silly

+ 1

!!!

I have both the klarus P2a and the jetbeam ba20

p2a declares 245 lumen
ba20 declares 270 lumen

In real life they seem equal.

Both are good torches… but I prefer the klarus

??

Not sure what you mean when you say tailcap opening, but the tailcap of the P2A unscrews just like any other flashlight's tailcap.

That's what I thought!

Some clarification would be appreciated.

Klarus makes great products. I had purchased mine on Feb 2012. It was one of my 1st decent light. Had been using it ever since. Almost Daily as it could tail stand and be used as a night light.
The construction is very top notch and the anodising seems to take the test of time well. A highly reliable light that you can trust. Once, I dropped the tailcap and the switch was broken, contacted Klarus and a nice CS officer sent me a new tail cap. You can see the review below.

i thought i read somewhere that only the headcap opens and you have to put in the batteries that way, maybe i have confused it with another light

That would be Klarus ST11 or ST2C.

Steve the chief is right, the tailcap needs to b taken of to insert the batteries on the P2A

And I would like to add that the P2A is still a great flashlight, even if it is already a bit older. Only if you're a tint snob, it's not for you...

That being said, I would love to mod mine with an XP-G2 in 5A tint, but the head is glued really tight.

I’m still pleased with my Klarus P2A and P1A as well as my Jetbeam BA-10s.

I don’t use my P2A much now that I found out that the P1A and Jetbeam BA-10 can use a 14500 and be every bit as bright as the 2xAA version in half the size.

The 1xAA version can handle a 14500 and produce nearly 300 lumens but it can also use an Eneloop, a alkaline or even a AAA if that all you have lying around.

The Klarus is a fine choice. I would also like to suggest this one from Brian at Shining Beam.

Reason being is that it is Neutral White and you get two battery options in one light 2 X AA or 1 X CR123.

If you buy this as well, you get four battery options in one light. 2 X AA / 1 X AA /1 X CR123 / 1 X 14500
