Sigma 150mm

Came this morning ! My Xmas present for 2016 … Sigma 150mm Macro Lens …
The pictures posted are not really Macro in the true sense … ( more close focus ) …

But I was testing the lens , AF , Focus speed , noise , accuracy , lens sharpness … And I think I see why this lens is held in high regard …

You are lucky I have a Nikon otherwise I would be looking for you :smiling_imp:
It’s little brother the 105mm is great.

Hope you enjoy it a lot

Cheers David

Ooooh , yeah …. I own the 105 as well ( Pentax mount )
If anything I probably have to many Macro lenses … ( I cant remember them all )
I might like Macro …

I am an incurable Flashaholic …
Now I might be a Macroholic as well , ………… oh dear !

Uh oh. I still have my Pentax KX and film in the freezer, but I just last month bought a Pentax 50-200mm for my K200D and had started looking at extension tubes …

Dont wait too long to buy tubes …
Prices are going up … Some people are asking ridiculous money …

Before the flashlights I was hoarding old microscopes (a pretty unaffordable hobby so I stopped), there will always be something (hobbyholic?). And who can object if it delivers pretty pictures from bees in flight?

I wish the macro lens for my sony a6000 would be a little cheaper :frowning:

Ooooo…. Nice pics  Lovely colours too!
Been hankering after the Sigma 150mm macro lens for a while but they’re still pretty expensive second-hand.

Yes , and getting more expensive …
I have waited a few years to get mine , and if I had just bit the bullet 2 years ago , I could have got it cheaper …
I lucked out on this one , but luck is fickle …

The going rate for a used one seems to be around $500 USD + …
Ranging up to $800 or so USD …
New ones , depending on where you buy , start around a grand US …
Lens prices have just gone up and up since I got into Digital SLR , and don’t look to be coming down …
If your in the USA ( or not ) Craigs list seems to be the place to bargain hunt

The Sigma 150mm f2,8 Macro is very good, i used one for a few years, but now i have the Sigma 180mm f2,8 OS Macro (a bit longer to keep more distance, but it is much heavier than the 150mm, and more expensive).
The sharpness of all macrolenses is very good, but the AF of most macrolenses is very slow (compared to all the other lenses i use).

Well, for landscape and macro usually manual focus comes to use. Only if you were trying to capture some critter on the move, then use auto focus.
