Yes, but a thin glass won’t refract very much. Anything we might make in our home won’t be perfect anyway. But better than nothing is still better than nothing. 
I know there’s no such thing as “white” light. I also know that all colors reflect from the mirror back to the die. What I don’t understand is how it makes any difference to total output through the lens. My understanding (which obviously must be wrong) was that the blue wavelengths recycled from the light hitting the collar, going back to the die, excited the phosphor some more, making it shine brighter for the same current level, but also shift toward a warmer output CCT. Since this isn’t how it works with ‘single color’ emitters, I’m wondering just how it does work!
