SK68 Driver broken... Part fell off

I gifted a Sipik sk68 to a friend a couple months ago. It stopped working today, so he brought it over for me to look at. I took out the pill and looked at the driver, finding a small black plastic piece with copper wire wrapped around it had broken off the driver. He doesn't really want to spend any money buying a new driver, and i don't trust my soldering skills on such a small surface mount piece. I didn't take a picture of it while i had it in my possession, but i found a picture of the same driver on the net.

I don't know what it's purpose is, but if i jump with wire, the led works. Can anyone tell me if there will be longevity issues if i just drop a blob of solder on there? Better yet, can someone tell me its specific function?

As i said before, it's the black plastic piece with wire wrapped around it. In this pic, it's right at the end of the yellow handles. Thanks in advance!

after some searching around, it looks like it might be an inductor. (just guessing) Still wondering what effect it may have on the circuit if i don't replace it and just jump the two points it was connecting with solder.

Afaik inductors sort of regulate current. Just try soldering them it doesn’t have to be perfect. Or find someone who can.

I might have a spare Sipik driver harvested from a new torch, if needed.
