Hello, I’ve been away from the flashlight scene since school started again but now I’m back. I’ve always wanted to get a SRK but it was around $70-$80 before I went on hiatus. Now that the price has dropped so much I’ve decided to get one. I’ve been doing a lot of searching on the forums and apparently if I want a guaranteed genuine one, I should but from CNQG (right?). I wouldn’t mind paying a bit more just to be safe. A lot of new batteries have come out since I’ve last visited. I’ve been eyeing these Sanyos and I was wondering if they would fit the King considering how long they are. Would the 2600mah Sanyos be the better choice in this case? Thanks.
CNQG/FancyFlashlights is where the genuine ones come from, I think those 2800 batteries have to be charges to 4.30 or 4.35 to get full capacity. The 2600s would be a better choice or the Panasonic 2900, 3100, or 3400. Your best place to get batteries would be KumaBear. If you want to go a little cheaper and riskier route, go with FastTech. Most of the Fasttrch batteries are ok but their protected batteries are extra large and don’t fit in a lot of lights. Some, including myself have also received bad batteries from them but most are OK.
The 2900 protected https://www.fasttech.com/products/1141000 are a good choice. They are priced great. I use them in my SRK and they are a perfect fit. I have multiple FastTech batteries protected and unprotected and have had zero issues with them. Save yourself some cash and get them there. hipping is usually pretty fast also.
I’m using SenyBor unprotected, which are panasonic 3100mah, the SRK easily acommodates this size battery length.
My SRK came from FastTech, but is being modded for 50% extra oomph with resistors, cost is around $1.50c

I purchased one of the orignals when they first came out from CNQ, It’s one of my best lights and have nothing but praise for it. My wife also likes to use it alot due to the very small size, power, and the side switch. So I’m going to be purchasing a second one, but as before, I’m going to get it from Ric at CNQ.
KumaBear is missing again - hope he's ok... I've been waiting a week, someone else has been waiting several weeks for a response for orders, so FastTech may be the way to go for the batts.
Oh - the $50.96 SRK from FastTech sounds/looks like the original as well - wonder if someone can confirm that though. The $42 SRK @FastTech is definitely cheaper made.
The sanyo’s from Fast Tech fit just fine. Although it’s tricky to actually screw the head down because of the extra spring tension. I bought the FandyFire from Fast tech and it rocks. It’s mega bright.
If you order from Fast Tech make sure to use the BLF coupon for 5% off.

$55.86 total for the FandyFire SRK and 4 2600 Sanyo’s. I haven’t heard anyone having issues with the FandyFire and at least one person said that the FandyFire was brighter than the good SRK.
I spoke to our fellow forum member Kumabear/Bob on Friday. Bob is recovering and getting some rest is all Bob told me and that he will post his status as soon as he is up to it. I hope for a speedy recovery.
Good to hear about Bob's recovery... Thanks arn357 - I saw your post on one of Bob's threads too - thanks for letting us know.
Also - I got the FandyFire version from FastTech - real happy with it. Tested in the 2100's for lumens, but want to mod it up some.
I got the fandyfire UV-S5 from fastech too. I did the 10K mod and its putting out a bunch of light I’ll tell you that. Now it seems the low mode is now like a medium. and high is TURBO… I do not have anything to measure output though.
I ordered a Black Skyray King a few days ago from Fastech and I have now asked them to change the order from the $42 version to the $50.96 version. The cheaper one must be a CLONE as they are different SKU numbers. I usually buy my SRKs from Ric at CNQ but he is out of stock at the moment.
At least at CNQ the cheaper SRK is advertised as a CLONE! You get what you pay for.
The advertising of all four of the Black, Gold, cheap and dearer Skyray Kings state that they are the supposedly the best available and the most genuine as below.
Sky Ray King 3* Cree XM-L U2 3-Mode 2500-Lumen LED Flashlight 4 x 18650.

“Customers have reported concerns because there exists multiple ”versions” of this flashlight. While the makers of all versions claim theirs is real, FastTech is now shipping the version that’s reported to be of the best quality and seemingly the most genuine.”
We will see what happens.
