I'd be happy to spend more if it had banana plug and JST connectors that made it possible to rewire it without soldering or tools for parallel or balance charging any number of cells in series.
If I knew something like this was going to become available I might’ve waited a bit more for it. Literally just last night I ordered this I will be gutting it and using it as a cradle for my hobby charger. Something like this might suit you if you’re only using 18650. I opted for the other because I have 26650.
I don’t think the market is that big. Most people just like things simple, cradle as part of the charger. Only DIY / builder types want to be bothered with a separate cradles. Many will have a soldering iron & can just buy a $1.80 slider charger on ebay to strip.
Yes…something like the 2nd one this …but a stripped down “holder only” with a way to attach a hobby charger, charging module…whatever…we just want a “blank’ or ”dummy” version that can handle 16340’s on up to 26650’s
For two months I was desperately looking for a 4x cradle with slider, fitting cells from 16340 to protected 18650, to use it for a hobby charger.
I ended buying a Jetbeam intellicharger i4 and will gut it when it finally arrives. It felt like ages to convince myself to buy a good charger just to use its cradle… but there simply is no market for what I was looking for and I had to be sure all protected cells will fit and the sliders will work well.
