Hello BLFers leroycp here doing my first forum topic. I'm a new guy so bear with me. I've had an XHP70 from mtn for a while and just decided to try anything. Seems like always either wrong host, wrong size, ...power, reflector, emitter, on and on. So what I've got is an cheap hardware store RayZ from Promier. No laughing and please no snippets. Well maybe some laughing lol. I started with a sinkpad XHP70, a "driver, and the host. The emitter was supposed to be a 6V but it could be a nine. The driver, best I can remember was "high output single cell". I could not get the emitter to fire so hunted more current. I ended up using a cell pack for the triple A's but changed the cells to LifePO4 3.2 V (3.6). Being the new guy I thought that would give me the 6+ volts needed to power either a) the driver or b) the XHP70. As it turned out the, as I understand it, the 2s1p gave me 10v. A 5inch 70 on turbo/high needless to say gobbles power which I new but talk about giggle. Serious. The driver ramped down shortly to the next which I will call Medium. Tapping through H/M and low it all worked. You have to realize I don't have any heat dissipation added at all! As such I figured I would at least "test" the driver. Now what I found is that Medium is good until it ramps down to low. For time test I tried it on low which seems to be between low and medium...but I am not sure. I expected thermal issues of course because I haven't added any yet. The first time test I went to t/high twice then med twice and began with low. With 9.87 v I got 1 hour 6 min. (add bin N4 1C 6v) At that time LV warning began H L Hl and I recharged. The next same test for time on Low/m I got 1 hour 57 minutes. the voltage at LV warning was 8.78 volts which leads me again to believe that either the emitter is 9v or the driver is. The driver is two sided and from a Yong Wang. I can't remember the company and cannot read Chinese. As a "Dummy 101" the driver may be a CC but I am using a tail clicky. The light beam is floody and as do the XHPs tint changes with level of brightness. Now I'll try to do pics and hope for the best. Thanks
Well that didn't work. I'm using FinePix and don't know how to import/attach pics. (Win7 and Firefox) Could someone please point me to the area I need to read. @#^%#@. Hopefully I'll be able to continue this later. This might be an interesting project for someone. My thoughts to begin with are firmware (hint) vs voltage related. I'm not there yet...and at the same time take a peak at this driver. As a "Dummy 101" my thoughts are that this may have potential. LifePO4 AAAs are pesky buggars but..............one never knows does one.
