I agree on the defiant 3c’s, I’d have a stock of them if I lived stateside, their just brilliant. Mine is still waiting for me to have spare cash for an emitter, I’m using an ld-29 3 - 8.4v driver so I can use 2 x 18650 or 3c cells and I want one of the warm white hi cri xm-l2’s, I figure it’ll make a nice incan analogue I can lend out with primaries or gun with lithium cells, even if it is conservatively driven.
For throw, my convoy l2 just destroys it and there’s little point having two xp-g2 nw throwers in a similar form factor.

My other 3C is orsm if I may say so. When Suncoaster visited he brought with him amongst others his Terminator and TN31. With the limited time we had doing highly scientific flashlight experiments and my extremely good memory off all events my 3C would not be too far behind if at all off the TN31. Believe it or not. It probably cost more to build in parts as well. Its not fair that they build lights as good as the TN31 for in the end not a lot of money. When you finish your build it may surprise you.

With the led star, should I file a couple off small grooves in the ends of the centre section where I have cut it out to allow any excess solder to flow out when flowing the led onto the pill?
Wouldn’t take much and could make a lot of difference, especially if you like to solder heavy.
That’s what’s tough for me to figure out, just exactly how much is too much?
