So that was how SK98 's design came about.

NITECORE IFE1 2010.

Actually…

Nitecore Extreme Infinity 2008

Mine is still in perfect working conditions with the legendary XR-E R2 emitter, 200 lumens with “infinitely variable” brightess, more like 50-steps.

Well there you go.

Very nice. Not available anymore I suppose?

Hi Freeme,

Didn’t Happen If There’s No Pictures?

Can’t see anything!

Site went down after I posted the link. See CPF HJK's review (2010) for pics.

its actually a very nice design if nitecore would bring it back with new LEDs and stuff

Some older nitecore lights with new emitters are amazingly nice

A friend of mine hade one of these “Extreme infinities”. Back in those days I had a d10 tribute also from Nitecore.

Both lights were innovative and different from other flashlights, but sadly Nitecore had big quality issues back then. My d10 and my friend’s EI started acting erradically in less than a year after purchase without any obvious reason (dropping / hitting anything etc.) and ended up being useless. Nitecore refused to replace them so I left their products alone for maybe 5 years or so.

The nitecores I have now have worked well so far, so I’m hoping Nitecore has done some homework.

I would beg to see Nitecore bring back the nitecore extreme infinity and compare with current sipik clones all day

Another historical thread about a popular light to join the C8 history thread. I’ve always enjoyed knowing the whole story about things and with how fast technology moves today a lot of things fade into obscurity all too quickly. Now that it’s posted it will be here for others to enjoy from now on

KUDOS for the thread and the answers!
Phil

+1

I also would be curious to know how it compares to a Sipik-clone. Keeping in mind that it can be a lottery. But I have to say that I’ve purchased quite a few Sipik-clones over the years and have been fortunate to get ones of good quality in that they were bright and are still working years later. And most of these were purchased from various venders on Ebay/Amazon for $2-$3 each.

Looking at the prices in the above links, I have to ask if the Nitecore (which does have a great product) was really worth the price?

Well that’s a cool bit of history! I kinda wish I had one of those Nitecores. Not sure I want to pay that much for such outdated tech and both of those listings show out of stock anyway, but if anyone has one and would consider selling it for a reasonable price I’d like to hear from you.

i remember seeing one of those Nitecore originals. Always wanted one of those Extreme Infinity lights, but never could find one.

Mind that the Nitecore EI was not a zoomie but a non-zooming reflector light, that makes it quite un-interesting to compare the two.

Yea the history is fascinating.

The cheapest control ring light I’ve seen is the Sofirn MS1, it be interesting if we could get a proper clone of Nitecore EI at a decent price like we got with the Fenix E01.

Thanks for sharing this, I recently asked how/when the SK68 came into the flashlight world. very interesting.
