Just when I keep telling myself I don’t need more flashlight, Massdrop has to do this to me
Since I already have the Al, Cu and Ti versions of the Tool, it makes no sense for me not to complete the collection. On the bright side, the price seems quite reasonable.
I’m picking one or more up, but they have made it confusing by delivering the prototypes with M-L-H mode sequencing, but apparently the drop will be H-M-L. Also the tail switch has the problem that it needs pre-charging, and that always catches many people who think their light is dead. So I hope they don’t have too many complaints and then maybe they will do a couple others. If they drop does happen to be M-L-H they will upset a lot of other people. No wining here, until the sequencing is programable.
Price looks good and pretty much everything about it is known from previous models so no surprises and thus a pretty safe bet for the buyers.
I am going for one, Nichia it will be my first Lumintop
In the description the mode sequence is not mentioned.
According to Massdrop it is L-M-H, you have to log in and read the (many) discussions.
From Massdrop:
Special thanks to DB Custom for making a suggestion based on the samples that we’ll be implementing on the production level. When you power on the samples, they start in medium power mode, then cycle to low, then cycle to high. DB Custom suggested we have them start in low, cycle to medium, then high. It’s a much better choice and Lumintop will be programming the production units as such.
Considering they’re AAA I like these lights a lot and they’ll match up with the Cu versions I bought. Probably in for 3. Not sure on the tint, probably mix these up.
Similar case here.
I thought the M-L-H mode is a PITA, but after I received my Ti Tool, I think I understand the reason behinds it….
For light this small, the Medium mode is the one that I used the most.
Ya, at $24.99 and a chance it could go lower I went for it, even though I can NOT stand the switch, I have 3 Ti’s and not one of my switches worked like everyone says theirs do all nice a smooth, well mine is just a click on and off to change modes, I bought one of the first so I thought the bugs hadn’t worked out with that battery situation but then I bought 2 from Rey and well the switches just mad me more irritated so I fixed that and made them normal switches and certainly looking at this light as really nothing more than a tool with the brass Maratac head and a brass Ti switch, lego for days, Really surprised by what they packaging is, Maratac plastic and not the Lumintop box like for the Ti.?
I agree with you on the packaging. Even Banggood shipped the Cu versions in a flip topped box with an outer sleeve. Made for better gift giving and it would’ve been nice here too.
Ordered, but now they are saying the sequence will be L-M-H. I’ll just wait until they arrive to see what they deliver. M-L-H is the best for this type of light, but it seems they were badly influenced to change it. Still should be a nice light and the price is not bad.
Surprised mode is L-M-H but not disappointed. Makes my new flashlight a bit unique. What surprises me more is that the AL version of the flashlight has a 60 hour run time for the low mode and the Ti, Cu, Brass versions have a 36 hour max run time for low.
It’s interesting that it is rechargeable as it means it might be a nice gift light for those that don’t have chargers and such. They must by trying to see if they can still get an entry into the Ugliest Clip contest though, as it seems totally out of place on that light and the keychain attachment looks ugly as well. Since JetBeam usually make very nice looking lights, I’m a bit surprised by this one. Maybe it scores some points for utility, but I’d need to have a hands on look at it before i bought it.
