This is a 21700 light with High Lumen capability. It shines impressively far outdoors.
Sofirn sent me the light as a free gift, they did not ask for a review, but I would like to share a few thoughts.
Some features impressed me right away:
- There is a lever that locks the switch to prevent accidental activation of the raised tail button. This is a very reassuring safety feature to prevent accidental activation.
- The USB-C charging port is under a threaded collar. Nicely protected from water, without relying on a rubber flap.
- My Opple Flicker test detected NoPWM. I like the very low Flicker Index and stable Ripple Free Lux output from the Buck Driver.
There is a general use Outdoor mode group, which has 6 output levels, including Turbo, but does not have any strobe, nor momentary modes.
There is last mode memory, and the switch is a forward clicky that advances outputs levels with a slight press.
The 1 lm lowest mode is convenient at very close range without being blinding, the third mode of 350 lm is bright enough for walking outdoors without overheating the light.
There are three brighter modes over 1000 lumens, that can illuminate longer distances, but should be used with care due to the high heat they can generate.
There is a separate Tactical mode with Turbo and Strobe and those modes can be Momentary. Tactical functions can only be enabled by togglig a mode group button under the threaded collar that covers the USB port. There is also a battery status light under the USB cover. And the strike bezel has glass breaker beads.
When the light is in the general Outdoor mode group, this would be a useful light for hiking and camping, and for walking a dog. Or for general use on a walk around an urban neighborhood.
